This study tests the impact of green technology innovation (GTI) from output (GTIO) and efficiency (GTIE) on competitiveness (GTFP) non-linear moderating effect environmental regulation (ERI) using a sample 156 listed enterprises in heavily polluting manufacturing industries 2016 to 2021. Results show that GTIO promotes GTFP, but GTIE inhibits GTFP. ERI has significant "U-shaped" between GTI Non-state-owned have relatively weak ability stronger sensitivity ERI. Enterprises with high market concentration outstanding strength can form positive interactions High GTFP enterprises' more is better coupled low enterprises. Our findings imply policymakers should formulate appropriate policies for different situations, while respond positively through multiple channels enhance competitiveness.
