Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a major global health problem today and the most common form of dementia. AD characterized by formation β-amyloid (Aβ) plaques neurofibrillary clusters, leading to decreased brain acetylcholine levels in brain. Another mechanism underlying pathogenesis abnormal phosphorylation tau protein that accumulates at level aggregates, areas affected this pathological process are usually cholinergic neurons cortical, subcortical, hippocampal areas. These effects result cognitive function, atrophy, neuronal death. Malnutrition weight loss frequent manifestations AD, these also associated with greater decline. Several studies have confirmed balanced low-calorie diet proper nutritional intake may be considered important factors counteracting or slowing progression whereas high-fat hypercholesterolemic predisposes an increased risk developing AD. Especially, fruits, vegetables, antioxidants, vitamins, polyunsaturated fatty acids, micronutrients supplementation exert positive on aging-related changes due their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, radical scavenging properties. The purpose review summarize some possible contribute prevention understand role nutrition plays Aβ typical neurodegenerative disease, identify potential therapeutic strategies involve natural compounds, delaying disease.

Sarcopenia, which is defined by a decline in skeletal muscle mass and strength associated with aging, common among older individuals presents considerable health dangers. Alzheimer's disease (AD) prevalent degenerative brain condition linked to decrease cognitive function. The intersection of these conditions remains underexplored. goal this systematic review meta-analysis was establish the frequency sarcopenia AD investigate relationship between AD. We performed an extensive literature databases, including PubMed, Embase, Web Science, Cochrane Library, through April 2024. inclusion criteria included studies that provided data on patients or examined odds ratios (ORs) comorbidities. R Studio (4.3.1) utilized for conducting statistical analyses. A total 27 studies, comprising 3902 were included. In AD, combined occurrence 33.9%, confidence interval (CI) 95%, ranging from 27.6% 40.2%. Sarcopenia found 31.2% (95% CI: 0.223-0.402) 41.9% 0.321-0.516) mild moderate respectively. OR association 2.670 1.566-4.555), suggesting robust correlation. highly patients, highlighting need integrated care approaches address both physical issues. Further research needed elucidate pathophysiological links sarcopenia.

Formaldehyde (FA) has been found to induce major Alzheimer's disease (AD)-like features including cognitive impairment, Aβ deposition, and Tau hyperphosphorylation, suggesting that it may play a significant role in the initiation progression of AD. Therefore, elucidating mechanism underlying FA-induced neurotoxicity is crucial for exploring more comprehensive approaches delay or prevent development Mangiferin (MGF) natural C-glucosyl-xanthone with promising neuroprotective effects, considered have potential treatment The present study was designed characterize effects mechanisms by which MGF protects against neurotoxicity. results murine hippocampal cells (HT22) revealed co-treatment significantly decreased cytotoxicity inhibited hyperphosphorylation dose-dependent manner. It further these protective were achieved attenuating endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), as indicated inhibition ERS markers, GRP78 CHOP, downstream Tau-associated kinases (GSK-3β CaMKII) expression. In addition, markedly oxidative damage, Ca2+ overload, ROS generation, mitochondrial dysfunction, all are associated ERS. Further studies showed intragastric administration 40 mg/kg/day 6 weeks improved spatial learning ability long-term memory C57/BL6 mice impairment reducing expression GRP78, GSK-3β, CaMKII brains. Taken together, findings provide first evidence exerts effect damage ameliorates possible expected novel basis AD diseases caused FA pollution.

Abstract INTRODUCTION Malnutrition correlates with neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPSs) in Alzheimer's disease (AD); however, the potential mechanism underlying this association remains unclear. METHODS Baseline and longitudinal associations of nutritional status NPSs were analyzed 374 patients on AD continuum 61 healthy controls. Serum biomarkers, behavioral tests, cerebral neurotransmitters, differentially gene expression evaluated standard malnourished diet–fed transgenic APPswe/PSEN1dE9 (APP/PS1) mice. RESULTS Poor increased blood flow midbrain striatum associated severe general subtypes, especially depression, anxiety, apathy. APP/PS1 mice fed a diet showed poor status, depression‐ anxiety‐like behaviors, altered neurotransmitter levels, downregulated c‐Fos striatum; these suppressed cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) signaling pathway. DISCUSSION exacerbating is relevant to cAMP pathway striatum, suggesting for targeted interventions mitigate continuum. Highlights linked specific symptom (NPS) deterioration. affects NPSs, usually involving striatum. Malnourished induces behaviors exacerbates

To investigate the association between neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) and nutritional status, explore their shared regulatory brain regions on Alzheimer's disease (AD) continuum. A longitudinal, observational cohort study. Data were collected from Chinese Imaging, Biomarkers, Lifestyle study June 1, 2021 December 31, 2022. Overall, 432 patients AD continuum, including amnestic mild cognitive impairment dementia, assessed at baseline, only 165 completed (10.37 ± 6.08) months' follow-up. The Mini-Nutritional Assessment (MNA) Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI) used to evaluate status NPS, respectively. corrected cerebral blood flow (cCBF) measured by pseudo-continuous arterial spin labeling of dietary nutrition-related was analyzed. NPS baseline subsequent change in changes severity examined using generalized linear mixed models. Increased cCBF left putamen associated with malnutrition, general affective symptoms, hyperactivity (P < 0.05). presence (β = −1.317, P 0.003), −1.887, 0.001), appetite/eating disorders −1.714, 0.001) a decline MNA scores during higher NPI −0.048), −0.181), −0.416; all longitudinally lower after adjusting for confounding factors. We found that predictors worse disorders, poorer status. Furthermore, abnormal perfusion may regulate malnutrition which suggests potentially common neural basis.

It has been known for many years these diseases pathogenic aspects in common. We highlight this review neuroglial cells (astroglia, oligodendroglia, microglia) play a vital role the origin, clinical-pathological development, course brain neurodegeneration. Moreover, we include new results T2D-AD mouse model (APP+PS1 mice on high-calorie diet) investigating.
