ABSTRACT Introduction A smartphone is a device with various functions, including wifi , application mobile networks, ease of mobility, and the capability using data. Because aforementioned people may use smartphones frequently. The Smartphone Application‐Based Addiction Scale (SABAS) six‐item questionnaire assessing addiction promising psychometric properties. However, it unclear if SABAS possesses strong properties across Asian regions. present study aimed to examine factor structure nine Methods Using datasets collected from regions Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, data 10,397 participants (mean age = 22.40 years; 44.8% men) were used for analyses. All completed an online survey or paper‐and‐pencil mode. Results Findings confirmatory analysis, Rasch network analysis all indicate one‐factor SABAS. Moreover, was measurement invariant (21 years less vs. above 21 years) gender (men women) in metric, scalar, strict invariance. metric but not scalar Conclusion findings showed that regions; however, noninvariant levels interpret importance each item differently. Age group comparisons are comparable because invariance evidence found study. cautions should be made when comparing scores
