Abstract This chapter examines the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s pivotal yet contentious role in Europe post-GFC, marking a significant departure from its historical focus on developing countries. It explores multi-layered conflicts ignited by IMF’s lending arrangements among Troika institutions, European states, and within IMF, alongside domestic upheavals mirroring those Global South. Despite shifts toward accommodating capital controls social policies, engagement underscores nuanced adaptation to politics of powerful at times subsumption it. The also argues that most remain unresolved for all three actors, Troika, IMF itself, states. culminates reflecting positioning recent crises.
