To report the odds of dysphagia treatment among adults with self-reported before and after implementation Affordable Care Act (ACA). Cross-sectional analysis. National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). Multivariate logistic regression. This study included 490 million individuals from 2012 2022 NHIS in weighted responses. Among 235 2012, 9.4 (4.0%) reported (median age, 56.0 years; interquartile range [IQR], 40.0-68.0 60% female). 255 2022, 15 (5.9%) 58.0 IQR, 40.0-71.0 57% After adjusting for sociodemographic factors, were significantly more likely than those to (adjusted ratio [aOR], 1.64; CI, 1.43-1.87). However, there was no significant difference reporting between 2022. Subgroup analyses by race ethnicity, insurance type also revealed differences when comparing cohorts. When examining general access care, less delay medical care due cost compared (aOR, 0.52; 95% 0.43-0.62). Although our results show improvement treatment. suggests that, although ACA reduced cost-related barriers, it has not adequately addressed care. IV.

Abstract The aim of this study was to validate the Swedish version Eating Assessment Tool (S-EAT-10) for head and neck cancer patients. participants (n = 60) had persistent swallowing difficulties 6–36 months after completion curative radiotherapy. videofluoroscopic assessed using Penetration Aspiration Scale Yale Pharyngeal Residue Severity Rating modified videofluoroscopy. Participants completed questionnaires S-EAT-10, M.D. Anderson Dysphagia Inventory (MDADI) study-specific questions. Internal consistency excellent test–retest reliability good. Regarding convergent validity, S-EAT-10 showed moderate strong correlation with MDADI no weak questions regarding meal duration weight change. criterion there a between instrumental measures. 85% sensitivity in identifying patients dysphagia. could not discriminate different degrees Thus, sufficient psychometric properties

Abstract Purpose This study aimed to clarify the relationship between dysphagia and social isolation among community-dwelling older people. Methods The participants in this cross-sectional observation were 238 people (168 women, mean age, 74.0 ± 5.2 years). Swallowing function was assessed using Eating Assessment Tool-10, with a score of ≥ 3 defined as dysphagia. Tongue pressure oral diadochokinesis (ODK) also swallowing-related functions. Social 6-item Lubben Network Scale. Physical function, cognitive body mass index, presence comorbidities, depressive symptoms, functional capacity investigated confounding factors. examined by logistic regression analysis dependent variable independent variable, adjusted for factors. Results In total, 21% being socially isolated (social group). group had significantly higher percentage patients than nonsocial (p < 0.01). No significant association found either tongue or ODK. Dysphagia associated (odds ratio: 2.8, 95% confidence interval: 1.1–7.0), even after adjusting confounders analysis. Conclusion may be an risk factor people. These findings suggest that swallowing should at isolation.
