Urban parks are vital for providing cultural ecosystem services (CESs) to residents. However, few studies have explored sex-based differences in CES demand, particularly within mountainous urban parks. This study aimed elucidate the perceptions and preferences CESs landscape elements explore their relationship Using value-labeled photographs from an equal number of male female volunteer visits Eling Park Chongqing, China, SolVES model was employed investigate between sex-specific elements. The results showed that males preferred slopes steps, garden facilities, recreation whereas females overlooks offer multiple values, including science ecological education, aesthetic heritage values. Females perceived social relational value at lotus pond Kansheng Tower, inspirational entrance, cliffside path. Males linked fort-like ridges cliffs. associated with steps. Based on findings, recommends enhancing specific landscapes incorporating sex-sensitive design Ultimately, these efforts aim position as key components sustainable development, promoting overall resident well-being.

Environmental management and policy approaches based on singular values (e.g., intrinsic or instrumental) tend to oversimplify human-nature relationships, often marginalizing local compromising both equity effectiveness. Although Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) have been criticized their instrumental, market-based orientation, these programs the potential reflect a diversity of values, depending how they are designed implemented. While research plural nature (i.e., intrinsic, relational) in PES contexts is beginning emerge, there still limited empirical exploring coexist reinforce one another. This therefore aims: i) develop classification framework relational, settings; ii) apply this two Cali, Colombia, empirically examine multiple interact within programs. We conducted 60 semi-structured interviews with community-based external expert actors, used content co-occurrence analysis explore 'value fabric'-the complex interwoven ways which articulated contexts. found that relational were most frequently mentioned, common co-occurrences observed between instrumental value monetary compensation such as stewardship, quality life, social cohesion. argue design should align participatory equity-based support stewards care-based practices. Analyzing through fabric' lens further emphasizes diverse interconnected people relate nature, enabling foster more legitimate, just, effective conservation outcomes.

There is growing recognition that our relationship with nature needs repairing. Two operationalizations of this construct within psychology are connectedness and relational environmental values. This review covers recent advances on both constructs. It outlines the evidence strong predictors pro-environmental outcomes. goes to what known about antecedents human-nature three emerging principles connectedness, in particular: (1) it largely operates like a true relationship, (2) form self-transcendence, (3) involves self. Additionally, highlights paradigmatic shifts study shifting from studying associations at individual level instead focus group-level processes.

This study provides comparative analysis concerning views nature human-nature relationships represented Chinese U.S. chemistry (grades 10–12), aiming to inform education field science Content was applied examine compare representation patterns with four sub-dimensions (i.e. metaphors emotions, types values nature) relationships. A five-volume textbook one were targeted. Proportionality calculation, Chi-squared tests along Cramer's V conducted identify similarities differences their patterns. Comparative results demonstrated more commonalities than divergences textbooks. Specifically, there no statistically significant humans-nature However, difference found nature. Urban landscapes homogenize our world at global scales, contributing to "extinction of experience", a progressive decline in human interactions with native greenspace that can disconnect people from the services it provides. College age adults report feeling disconnected nature more than other demographics, making universities logical place explore interventions intended restore connection nature. Abstract Universities are important places to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), because today's students tomorrow's professionals, who may make decisions that will impact sustainable development. Given need for future collaboration across disciplines achieve SDGs, we analyzed if there differences between study programs in how they perceive each SDG be and, with a focus on environmental sustainability, connected nature. An online questionnaire was used survey from 18 different ( n = 1920). We found that: (1) were significant connection nature programs, as well rated SDG, except SDG2; (2) while individual SDGs more some than others, general consensus among university Germany about which goals them: SDG2 and SDG6 perceived particularly important, contrast SDG8, SDG9, SDG10, SDG17; (3) SDG15 correlated nature, therefore strengthening students' through education could an effective way help SDG15; (4) generally gave medium high importance ideas of universities should encouraged use this gateway increase development integrate it into all programs.
