Skin Healing Potential of Bioactive Components From Lycoperdon lividum Mushroom Versus β‐Sitosterol in Rat Model of Burn Wounds

ABSTRACT Burn injury elicits an inflammatory response, metabolic abnormalities, and distributional shock leading to diverse organ dysfunctions with remarkable morbidity mortality. Sluggish wound healing, infections, hypertrophic scars still struggle in burn treatment. Lycoperdon lividum , a puffball mushroom enriched polyphenols, has outstanding antioxidative anti‐inflammatory properties. This study aimed assess the benefits of L. on second‐degree lesions rat model at 100°C. Seventy‐five male rats were haphazardly separated into five groups 15 each: Control (without any skin induction/treatment), (skin induction/non‐treated), β‐sitosterol (treated topical 0.25%), Vehicle Vaseline), watery extract 10%). Rats euthanized Days 5, 10, 20 experiment. was analyzed using HPLC techniques. Skin samples collected for microscopical histopathological examinations. Biomarkers involving IL‐6, IL‐10, TGF‐β1, TNF‐α, VEGF homogenates. The chromatogram revealed distinct peaks bioactive compounds including kaempferol, rutin, ferulic acid, caffeic chlorogenic quercetin, gallic acid. greatly alleviated via improving contraction, correcting inflammation, granulation aberrations while boosting fibrosis. outcomes validated by analyses. Further, markedly improved healing wounds regulating cytokines (IL‐6 TNF‐α), (IL‐10 TGF‐β1), angiogenic (VEGF) tissues. potential thanks its antioxidant actions.

The potential effects of cranberry extract on indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer in rats

Indomethacin (IND) belongs to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) prescribed for treatment of rheumatoid diseases and linked the development gastric ulcers in many people. Cranberry is a rich source polyphenols flavonoids, which have powerful antioxidant properties. This study aimed evaluate activity cranberry aqueous extract on IND-induced albino rats. Twenty-four adult male rats were sequentially assigned four groups six each. The control group consumes distilled water (DW) orally 15 days. IND (induction) received single oral dosage (60 mg/kg) IND. omeprazole (OMP) got 60 mg/kg as dose then 20 mg/kg/day OMP was given subsequently 200 Rats euthanized day 16, tissues removed biochemical histopathological evaluations. considerably ameliorated severity ulcerations fixed histological deteriorations. Furthermore, IND-exposed treated with exhibited dramatically lower serum levels inflammatory biomarkers like TNF-α IL-6, but higher anti-oxidative SOD GPx. bioactive flavonoids content could possibly account its profound gastroprotective effects. properties be promising strategy ameliorating IND-aggravated gastrotoxicity.
