Heavy metal toxicity hinders plant growth and development by inducing oxidative stress, decreasing biomass, impairing photosynthesis, potentially leading to death. The inherent defense mechanisms employed plants, including sequestration into vacuoles, phytochelation, cell wall adsorption an enhanced antioxidant system can be improved via various approaches mitigate heavy toxicity. This review primarily outlines plants direct indirect responses HM stress the tolerance which combat toxic effects of metals metalloids understand effective management HMs in soil system. Furthermore, this highlights measures metalloid improve through physio-biochemical, biological, molecular approaches. also provides a comprehensive account all mitigative comparing biological Finally, we compared used monocotyledonous dicotyledonous increase their tolerance. Although many studies have monocot dicot based on effects, comparisons these not been explored.

Rational and effective utilization of rainfall is crucial to vegetation restoration ecological reconstruction for engineering slopes. However, plant vegetated concrete considerably affect soil water distribution replenishment, which rarely accounted in current studies. To this end, the effects on spatiotemporal recharge were explored. First, four field model slopes constructed monitor content. The variations characteristics under different modes analyzed. indicators including amount, efficiency, threshold assessed. At last, discussed. Results showed that alters reduces content During process, extends lag time but increases amount efficiency replenishment. Comparably, shrub slope gains highest threshold. Cynodon dactylon superior Magnolia multiflora raising replenishment capacity. Additionally, enhances by altering properties interacting with plants. This study deepened understanding hydrological provided a theoretical basis ensuring sustainable management.

Larix kaempferi (Lamb.) Carrière, a valuable species for timber production and reforestation, faces challenges in large-scale seedling propagation due to its slow growth cycle high susceptibility environmental stressors. Early detection of drought stress is critical preparing seedlings harsh field conditions optimizing irrigation strategies. This study aimed detect at an early stage L. by integrating physiological traits with image-based phenotypic measurements, focus on needle angle dynamics under controlled conditions. The apical one-year-old was measured using ImageJ, while seedling-level analysis conducted PlantCV collect data extract relevant parameters. Statistical analyses were performed evaluate temporal trends identify environment significantly influenced stress. As result, wilting recovery, along image (parameter: Center Mass(y)), exhibited significant responses as Day 2. provides non-destructive method detection, preceding observable changes such chlorophyll fluorescence temperature that responded 6, well before mortality occurred. Multiple regression indicated that, progressed, solar radiation thermal-related parameters (ФNPQ temperature) emerged key predictors variation. Image-based approaches, including RGB thermal imaging, proved effective real-time monitoring, demonstrating their practical potential nursery applications. In summary, this lays the groundwork needle-based phenomic approaches imaging techniques systems highlights need further research optimize these methods large-scale, cost-effective high-quality, drought-resilient seedlings.
