This study is motivated by the need to understand and proffer sustainable circular economy solutions persistent challenges associated with plastic waste management in Nigeria. Despite emerging awareness increased number of studies conducted on products Nigeria, opportunities their production, consumption, post-consumption are still poorly understood. Besides large quantity produced locally a substantial these various forms polymer types also comes into country through importation. results high consumption rate and, extension, huge volume generated daily exceeding capacity ability authorities manage. In this work, we reviewed available literature analyze status importation, It estimated that out 27.3 million tonnes municipal solid currently Nigeria’s urban cities per annum about 11.2 collected, which 1.1 plastics. further projected 2040, 40.5 will be generated, only 1.6 component collected for disposal. Based outcome analysis, current suggested how adopting principles can help mitigate impact Nigerian society.

This review highlights the growing concern regarding proliferation of microplastics (MPs) in aquatic ecosystems and their potential impact on both environment human health. Despite current efforts, a considerable number MPs remain untreated due to small size. Conventional identification treatment methods are summarized pointing limitations. Emerging technologies microfluidics nanotechnology presented as solutions for removal from environments. These novel technologies, which currently being used development point care (PoC) diagnostic devices, can take advantage size density similarities between commonly separated particles applications such cells, making them promising candidates separation recovery wastewater plants. evaluates limitations water plants laboratories compares with capabilities nanotechnology, providing valuable insights into future strategies combating pollution.

Micro/nanorobots (MNRs) are untethered, small‐scale devices designed to perform complex tasks in challenging and inaccessible environments, with promising biomedicine environmental remediation applications. Recent advancements multi‐module MNRs, which incorporate functional components such as actuators, propellers, imaging modalities, manipulators, have significantly expanded their capabilities while addressing the limitations of single‐module designs. This article reviews recent progress these core modules, emphasizing application biomedicine, including targeted drug delivery, tissue repair, diagnosis, well remediation, pollutant removal microorganism treatment. It highlights practical strategies address real‐world challenges domains, a focus on design enhancing functionality. Despite substantial advancements, key persist, scalability, real‐time imaging, intelligent control. Future research directions include development modules equipped memory, data processing, communication functions, enabling autonomous decision‐making closed‐loop These developments hold potential foster innovation medicine, sustainability, other critical fields.

Abstract Microplastic pollution has rapidly become one of the major global environmental concerns because its low biodegradability rate and threat to biota. Although many treatment methods are reported, advanced oxidation process (AOP) is recommended capacity completely mineralize organic pollutants into carbon dioxide water. This review gathers published investigations on recent AOP techniques (UV/solar photolysis photocatalysis (PC), UV/H 2 O , Fenton reaction, sonolysis, heat‐activated persulphate peroxymonosulphate) tested for degradation microplastics from water wastewater. The lists 54 studies, by far most comprehensive collection AOP‐driven microplastics, also first explain related ultrasonic microplastics. We found that all reviewed achieved satisfying performance in paper proposes recommendations future research based review.

Abstract The growing problem of plastic waste in Nigeria is one the major environmental issues, primarily influenced by population growth, urbanization, and industrialization. To tackle this problem, study assessed generation management Ilorin township, focusing on Gaa-Akanbi Tanke Oke-Odo residential locations. revealed that average generated per capita was estimated at 0.16 kg/cap/day 0.29 Oke-Odo. Furthermore, composition differed these areas, with having a majority Polyethylene (PE) 57.05%, followed terephthalate (PET) 12.83%, Polystyrene (PS) 12.25%, Polypropylene (PP) 11.08%, other types 6.76%. On hand, Oke-Odo's consisted PE (56.28%), PET (15.73%), PS (12.21%), PP (9.65%), (6.12%). Alarmingly, found most residents were using unsustainable disposal practices, 28% handing their to collectors, 11% relying municipal collection bins, 10% resorting open dumping, significant 51% burning waste, all which contribute pollution. excluding investigations household rate for Gaa-akanbi studies showed p values > 0.05 as confirmed aid statistical evaluation. Therefore, taking urgent action based insights crucial mitigate adverse impacts environment human well-being region. adopting circular economy principles utilizing DPSIR framework practically suitable address issue effectively.
