Objective: To determine the correlation between visceral fat and body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), CVD risk factors in males females of Pakistani population. Methods Four hundred six (406) participants were enrolled study after taking ethical approval from institute. The age was 30 to 65 years. A uniform survey physical examination given each participant. We took anthropometric measurements (BMI, WC, WHR, WHtR, SBP, DBP). Fasting blood sugar serum lipid profile (TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C) measured. Results: with ≥10% have increased levels DBP, Cholesterol, LDL, FBS. significant positive observed Weight, BMI, Conclusion: CV increases increase weight, FBS

Obesity is a chronic disease characterized by the abnormal or excessive accumulation of body fat, affecting more than 1 billion people worldwide. commonly associated with other metabolic disorders, such as type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiovascular diseases, kidney and cancers. Factors sedentary lifestyle, overnutrition, socioeconomic status, environmental genetic conditions can cause obesity. Many molecules signaling pathways are involved in pathogenesis obesity, nuclear factor (NF)-κB, Toll-like receptors (TLRs), adhesion molecules, G protein-coupled (GPCRs), programmed cell death (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand (PD-L1), sirtuin (SIRT1). Commonly used strategies obesity management treatment include exercise dietary change restriction for early stage bariatric surgery server Food Drug Administration (FDA)-approved medicines semaglutide liraglutide that be monotherapy synergistic treatment. In addition, psychological management, especially patients distress, good option. Gut microbiota plays an important role its comorbidities, gut microbial reprogramming fecal transplantation (FMT), probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics shows promising potential syndrome. clinical trials ongoing to evaluate therapeutic effects different treatments. Currently, prevention best options prevent progression many comorbidities.

Abstract Genome-wide association study has identified fruitful variants impacting heritable traits. Nevertheless, identifying critical genes underlying those significant been a great task. Transcriptome-wide (TWAS) is an instrumental post-analysis to detect gene-trait associations focusing on modeling transcription-level regulations, which made numerous progresses in recent years. Leveraging from expression quantitative loci (eQTL) regulation information, TWAS advantages detecting functioning regulated by disease-associated variants, thus providing insight into mechanisms of diseases and other phenotypes. Considering its vast potential, this review article comprehensively summarizes TWAS, including the methodology, applications available resources.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death worldwide, and several studies have attempted to identify its risk factors. This study aimed investigate the association between sleep duration quality, 7-year incidence CVD among middle-aged older Chinese individuals. A total 6682 participants aged 45-90 years from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study database were included in this study. The authors estimated quality based on self-reported data night hours disturbance symptoms, examined associations them composite outcome using logistic regression models. 1692 (25.32%) reported new events during follow-up. Short (< 6 h/night) was significantly associated with higher all three models (p < .05). However, not observed for long (> 8 h/night). Additionally, mild models, severe Models 2 3 had After stratification by age daytime napping, we still found significant short individuals 45-59 years, non-nappers these ≥60 or nappers > In conclusion, are both an increased

The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a simple, reliable, and easily accessible composite index that has garnered increasing attention in cardiovascular research. NLR closely associated with the onset, progression, prognosis of various diseases. This article reviews etiological prognostic roles conditions such as coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmia, failure, valvular disease. Studies have shown involved pathophysiologic processes these diseases holds significant predictive value for their prognosis. Additionally, compared other inflammatory markers, offers advantages low cost, repeatability, ability be measured at community-level primary healthcare settings, thus providing new insight prediction like artery

The correlation between body mass index (BMI) and the outcomes for patients receiving surgical intervention abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is still debated. Consequently, this study seeks to investigate association BMI mortality following elective open repair (EOAR). This involves a secondary analysis derived from data collected in prospective cohort framework. It focuses on individuals who received EOAR across ten vascular surgery centers Denmark January 1, 2000, December 31, 2014. employed Cox proportional hazards regression model examine connection EOAR. To detect any potential nonlinear associations, with cubic spline functions smooth curve fitting was utilized. Furthermore, we performed numerous sensitivity subgroup evaluations ensure reliability of our results. Upon controlling confounding variables, demonstrated clear inverse Specifically, each 1 kg/m² increase corresponded 2.7% reduction risk (HR = 0.973; 95% CI: 0.958-0.988). Compared normal weight, those classified as underweight faced 62.6% higher 1.626; 1.142-2.314), whereas overweight obese experienced by 18.2% 0.818; 0.722-0.928) 15.8% 0.842; 0.721-0.998), respectively. Additionally, identified relationship postoperative mortality, critical point at 25.78 kg/m². Below inflection point, decrease significantly increased 8% 0.920; 0.893-0.949). Beyond further increases did not impact risk. In undergoing EOAR, an negatively associated mortality. specific exists Clinicians should carefully weigh risks under consider delaying enhance nutrition. contrast, or may require pre-surgery weight management.

Artemisinin derivatives have been found to anti-obesity effects recently, but the mechanism is still controversial. Herein, long-term DHA treatment in obese mice significantly reduced body weight and improved glucose metabolism. However, short-term did not affect metabolism mice, suggesting that with could be secondary reduction. Consistent previous reports, we observed inhibited differentiation of adipocytes. Mechanistically, expression NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) white adipose tissue (WAT) differentiated adipocytes, using NOX4 siRNA or inhibitor GKT137831 attenuated adipocyte differentiation. Over-expression partially reversed inhibition effect on adipogenic preadipocytes. In addition, targeted proteomics analysis showed abnormality metabolic pathways. conclusion, fat mass possibly by inhibiting suppress lipid accumulation
