Migraine, as a widespread neurological condition, substantially impacts quality of life, particularly among women. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the potential effects alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and L-carnitine co-supplementation on migraine symptoms, mental health, life in women with migraine. In randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 80 were randomly assigned receive either ALA (1000 mg) plus (500 or matching placebos daily for 12 weeks. Migraine characteristics, health parameters, measures assessed at baseline end. The intervention group demonstrated significant reduction frequency (-2.96; 95% CI (-3.48, -2.45) vs -0.07; (-0.68, 0.53), P < 0.001), severity (-1.6; (-2.05, -1.15) − 0.44; (-0.91, 0.02), = duration (-4.9; (-6.34, -3.45) -0.5; (-1.06, 0.66) hours, 0.001) compared placebo group. Mental improvements observed depression (-7.4; (-9.24, -5.55) 0.05; (-1.16, 1.26), anxiety scores (-5.7; (-7.26, -4.14) 0.65; (-2.33, 1.03), 0.001). Quality showed enhancement, increased migraine-specific (9.75; (8.01, 11.49) 1.22; (-0.66, 3.11), decreased headache impact test-6 (-8.57; (-11.79, -5.36) -1.35; (-3.41, 0.71), 0.005) controls. Co-supplementation may offer promising adjuvant therapy managing women, addressing both physical symptoms psychological burdens. IRCT20121216011763N57.

Neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury lacks any effective treatments, often leading to chronic pain. This study tested whether the daily administration of fully characterized polyphenolic extracts from grape stalks and coffee could prevent both reflexive non-reflexive neuropathic in cord-injured mice by modulating neuroimmune axis. Female CD1 underwent mild contusion received intraperitoneal weeks one, three, six post-surgery. Reflexive responses were assessed weekly for up 10 weeks, was evaluated at study's end. Neuroimmune crosstalk investigated, focusing on glial activation expression CCL2/CCR2 CX3CL1/CX3CR1 supraspinal pain-related areas, including periaqueductal gray, rostral ventromedial medulla, anterior cingulate cortex, amygdala. Repeated treatments prevented mechanical allodynia thermal hyperalgesia, also modulated Moreover, they reduced gliosis regulated signaling. Overall, combination polyphenols these may offer a promising pharmacological strategy modifying central sensitization markers, not only site but key regions implicated data highlight potential injury-induced

Migraines are neurological disorders which significantly impact quality of life. Current pharmacological treatments often have adverse effects, prompting the search for alternatives with fewer side effects. Several studies described antimigraine properties palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and melatonin. Our research assessed efficacy association hydrodispersible PEA (1,200 mg) melatonin (0.2 by a randomized, three-month, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (PEATONIDE®; n = 30 patients; placebo; patients). The participants were recruited "I.N.B.B. Consortium" in Italy. primary outcome was reduction migraine frequency, while secondary outcomes included intensity, duration, grade disability. parameters self-reported daily headache diary. formulation displayed significant frequency (T3 months: 2.2 ± 0.4 MMDs; T0 baseline: 3.4 0.5 MMDs, ***p < 0.001 vs baseline T0) disability, incidence associated symptoms attacks after 3 months treatment. No effects observed during In addition, mitigation migraine-related symptomatology observed. These findings suggest that PEATONIDE® may be promising adjunctive approach management. However, given relatively small sample size, further large-scale multicenter trials needed to confirm its clinical applicability broader population.

This narrative review provides an overview of current knowledge on the impact nutritional strategies chronic craniofacial pain associated with temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). Individuals experiencing painful TMDs alter their dietary habits, avoiding certain foods, possibly due to chewing difficulties, which might lead nutrient deficiencies. Our literature investigation revealed that causal links between changes and remain unclear. However, clinical preclinical studies suggest nutraceuticals, including vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, omega-3 fatty acids, isoprenoids, carotenoids, lectins, polysaccharides, glucosamines, palmitoylethanolamides, could have beneficial effects managing TMDs. is described in 12 38 articles since 2000. Clinical discussed roles glucosamine, palmitoylethanolamides.
