The article presents a review of the relationships between melatonin and neurodevelopmental disorders. First, antioxidant properties its physiological effects are considered to understand better role in typical atypical neurodevelopment. Then, several disorders occurring during infancy, such as autism spectrum disorder or neurogenetic associated with (including Smith–Magenis syndrome, Angelman Rett’s Tuberous sclerosis, Williams–Beuren syndrome) later adulthood like bipolar schizophrenia, discussed regard impaired production circadian rhythms, particular, sleep–wake rhythms. This addresses issue overlapping symptoms that commonly observed within these different mental conditions debates abnormal altered rhythms pathophysiology behavioral expression

Abstract Purpose Prostatitis is a highly prevalent condition that seriously affects men’s physical and mental health. Although epidemiological investigations have provided evidence of correlation between insufficient sleep prostatitis, the pathogenesis prostatitis remains unclear. We sought to identify underlying mechanism involved promising therapeutic target. Methods Sleep deprivation (SD) was utilized establish mouse model in special device. observed at different time points post-SD. The degree evaluated by pathological section behavioural tests. Using immunofluorescence, western blot, proteomic analyses, SD-related investigated, development target were elucidated. Results SD, as an initial trigger, resulted reduction dihydrotestosterone melatonin levels. Proteomic analysis revealed cGAS-STING pathway may play significant role inducing prostatitis. subsequent results illustrated dual led accumulation reactive oxygen species release mitochondrial DNA (mt-DNA). mt-DNA activated pathway, which recruited inflammatory cells into prostatic stroma through secretion interferon-β. Consequently, microenvironment formed, ultimately promoting Notably, mice with SD-induced gradually recovered normal state within 7 days recovery sleep. However, after being subjected SD again, these tended more pronounced manifestation shorter timeframe, suggested prone relapse. Conclusions deficiency plays comprehensive This research provides valuable insights pathogenesis, targets, prevention strategies

Melatonin is vital in human circadian rhythm and infant development. This scoping review summarized the current knowledge about melatonin’s presence effects milk to promote better understanding of its secretion pattern clinical advancement maternal-infant health. The followed Joanna Briggs Institute guideline answered question: What melatonin hormone milk? databases searched were PubMed, CINAHL, SCOPUS, Web Science, LILACS, Scielo, EMBASE, Science Direct, Eric, Cochrane, addition grey literature reference lists included sources. Research papers English, Spanish, or Portuguese languages, regardless study type publication date. selection data extraction involved two independent reviewers. Twenty-nine studies met inclusion criteria. studies, conducted between 1993 2023, employed diverse designs, with cross-sectional being most prevalent. concentration exhibited a consistent pattern, higher at night, elevated colostrum. analysis methods for evolved, recent advancements contributing more accurate measurements. Factors influencing levels, such as delivery type, maternal age, health conditions, demonstrated complex relationship, potentially impacting development infants. dynamic nature calls continued interdisciplinary research, bridging gaps clinical, biochemical, epidemiological perspectives. Standardizing are needed. Nurses should assess factors levels interventions guidance aimed enhancing regulation cycle during perinatal period benefits.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental observed in children and adolescents, the manifestations of which affect personal, social academic performance. The aim this paper to explore relationship between sleep disorders ADHD symptoms, highlighting importance investigating bidirectional these two conditions for management patients with its comorbidities. This narrative review synthesizes current literature elucidate interaction ADHD, exploring communication comorbid symptoms ADHD. In addition, it discussed how independent drug therapy can lead problems, showing non-drug essential treatment disorders, improving patient prognosis. Some recent research has revealed possible link they have each other, potentially affecting quality life mental health individual disorders. As we delve deeper into provides comprehensive overview knowledge implications diagnosis, approach when associated Addressing such as fundamental coping strategy condition, involves both non-pharmacological pharmacological interventions.

The synthesis of melatonin (MLT) physiologically decreases during aging. Treatment with MLT has shown anxiolytic, hypnotic, and analgesic effects, but little is known about possible age-dependent differences in its efficacy. Therefore, we studied the effects (20 mg/kg, intraperitoneal) on anxiety-like behavior (open field (OFT), elevated plus maze (EPMT), three-chamber sociability, marble-burying (MBT) tests), medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC)-dorsal hippocampus (dHippo) circuit adolescent (35-40 days old) adult (three-five months C57BL/6 male mice. did not show any effect adolescents OFT EPMT. In adults, compared to vehicles, it decreased locomotor activity time spent center arena open arms MBT, no were observed both age groups. sociability test, social novelty while increased adolescents. Using local potential recordings, found higher mPFC-dHippo synchronization delta low-theta frequency ranges adults after treatment. Here, anxiety paradigms modulation circuit, indicating that when investigating pharmacology system, can significantly impact study outcomes.

Abstract There is increasing recognition of ‘higher preference for eveningness’ as a potential independent risk factor poor mental health. To examine the chronotype-mental health relationship while also quantifying roles sleep quality, relevant personality traits, and childhood trauma, we assessed 282 young adults (18–40 years; 195 females) residing in North India, between January March 2023 (to control seasonal variation), using self-report measures diurnal preference, patterns, (depression, anxiety, stress), traits (extraversion, neuroticism, schizotypy, impulsivity), trauma. The results showed significant association eveningness but this was fully mediated by quality. Neuroticism, emotional abuse cognitive disorganisation were correlated with well Neuroticism abuse, not disorganisation, had indirect effects on via Our findings highlight crucial role played quality relationship.

Melatonin is a pineal hormone synthesized exclusively at night, in several organisms. Its action on sperm of particular interest, since they transfer genetic and epigenetic information to the offspring, including microRNAs, configuring mechanism paternal inheritance. MicroRNAs are known participate wide variety mechanisms basically all cells tissues, brain cells, which known, respectively, present 70% identified microRNAs these molecules embryo. from have been associated with modulation embryonic development inheritance psychiatric symptoms, autism. Given that melatonin ubiquitous important roles organism, aim this study was investigate expression specific sperm, cerebellum pinealectomized rats. For study, Wistar rats had their gland removed 60 post-partum . Part received exogenous until day euthanasia. The control group did not receive any treatment or manipulation. hypothalamus, prefrontal cortex were collected for analysis microRNA by RT-qPCR. results suggest absence caused pinealectomy increases target sperm. Although data an alteration (increase decrease depending region microRNA) levels some rats, differences statistically significant.
