Water pollution poses significant threats to ecosystems and human health. Sustainable, eco-friendly technologies for treating contaminated water using phytoremediation offer a promising solution detoxify the polluted water. This study uses floating treatment wetlands (FTWs), cost-effective technology, treat by employing indigenous plants their associated plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). Plant samples were collected from banks of channel in sub-tropical region Karima, Attock, Pakistan (33°39'04.2"N, 72°42'14.6"E). The species selected this Cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium), Vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides), Parthenium (Parthenium hystophorous), Bermuda (Cynodon dactylon), Hemp (Cannabis sativa), because potential heavy metal uptake tolerance. PGPR isolates with these underwent biochemical characterization, yielding positive results further validated through nucleotide homology ensure selection most effective strains. FTWs seeded grass, both known robustness high capacity. Physicochemical analyses revealed reductions concentrations, including cadmium reduced (to 0.0000 mg/L), nickel 0.0016 chromium 0.0117 mg/L. These underscore effectiveness FTW system improving quality. Present work demonstrates that integration zizanioides) dactylon) symbiotic bacteria, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, FTWs, is viable sustainable method remediation metal-contaminated water, offering practical environmental restoration control.
