Frontier research has focused more on the sustainable economic development (SED) of developing countries, with slightly less attention paid to SED underdeveloped regions in especially without analyzing their driving factors from dual perspectives domestic and international capital. In fact, as an important factor growth, capital is also core force for achieving SED. Achieving common prosperity and promoting coordinated regional development are key objectives of China’s economic social in the new era. The eastern, western, northern regions Guangdong (hereafter referred to as “the Regions”) possess abundant agricultural resources serve significant zones within province. A critical challenge for Guangdong’s high-quality lies how enhance farmers’ income (FI) through industrial agglomeration (AIA), reduce disparities across regions, achieve development, promote prosperity. This study employs panel data from 12 prefecture-level cities Regions 2012 2022 examine dynamic evolution AIA its impact on (FI). It focuses mechanisms which influences growth explores heterogeneity effects. findings indicate that FI follows a stage-specific U-shaped pattern. Agricultural productivity mediates this relationship, demonstrating enhances by improving production efficiency. However, level industrialization weakens positive effect growth. To fully leverage benefits Regions, recommends optimizing spatial distribution industries, integrating advantages, advancing industrialization, rural infrastructure, implementing region-specific policies. These measures aim increase FI, narrow Guangdong,
