Among non-cutaneous head and neck tumours, oral squamous cell carcinoma is one of the most common entities clinically characterized by functionally limiting therapies a high recurrence rate. The majority carcinomas arise from potentially malignant diseases mucosa, which are often biopsied for preventive diagnostic purposes. This article provides histological criteria grading epithelial dysplasia, with scheme to help classify p53 staining estimate prognosis. As cancer still morphologically defined entity, subtypes prognostic parameters that can be determined light microscopy presented. Future treatment approaches outlined, cannot compared other tumour due lack therapeutically useful molecular alterations in carcinoma.
