Abstract Objectives Nonsuicidal self‐injury (NSSI) occurs more frequently in the prisoner population than general population. Monitoring and management of this behavior is challenging because NSSI may present diverse ways. People often use one method NSSI, there are many possible combinations these behaviors. We used latent class analysis (LCA) to identify subgroups male inmates based on methods frequency NSSI. Methods A total 1042 prisoners China ( M age = 38.45, SD 10.67) completed measures hopelessness, sensation seeking, identity integration, suicidal ideation, was assessed a structured interview. Results LCA supported three‐class model: high‐NSSI (1.8%), moderate‐NSSI (8.0%), no‐or‐negligible (90.2%). Multinomial logistic regression analyses showed that classes were significantly likely those show high low identity. Furthermore, ideation higher class. Conclusions Classifying groups features potentially useful for understanding risk factors developing tailored prevention treatment strategies.

This study examined the effects of interparental conflict on non-suicidal self-injury in middle school students and investigated mediating role self-esteem moderating regulatory emotional self-efficacy. A total 1,072 were recruited to participate this anonymously completed Children's Perception Interparental Conflict Scale, Self-esteem Regulatory Emotional Self-efficacy Adolescent Self-Injury Questionnaire. The results as follows: (1) positively predicted students; (2) mediated relationship between self-injury; (3) was moderated by These findings provide a new avenue for reducing preventing among students.

The prevalence of non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) among prisoners is widely recognized. However, most research conducted in prisons setting has focused on lifetime engagement NSSI, with limited knowledge about its correlates and risk factors during imprisonment. Drawing the integrated theoretical model this study aimed to examine combined effects childhood maltreatment (an environmental factor) two intrapersonal factors, namely self-identity sensation-seeking, NSSI. 1042 Chinese male offenders participated current study, regression analyses used relationship variables. results revealed that mediated association between prisoners' Sensation-seeking moderated connection was only significant for high sensation-seeking. We discuss possible practical implications.
