Eating disorders comprise an array of mental disturbance with profound implications for individuals' psychophysical and societal well-being. Extensive research has elucidated the role Big Five personality traits in explaining individual differences risk eating disorders, overshadowing alternative taxonomies, such as Dark Triad - DT (i.e., Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism). Accordingly, current study aimed to address association between also exploring potential involvement body uneasiness captured terms weight phobia (fear being or becoming fat), image concerns (worries related physical appearance), avoidance (body behaviors), compulsive self-monitoring (compulsive checking depersonalization (detachment estrangement feelings towards one's own body). By using online cross-sectional design, data were gathered from 419 participants. Results indicated that among three dimensions DT, only narcissism exhibited a positive correlation while mediated this association. Background/Objectives: The primary factors influencing victimisation in bullying have recently become a topic of debate the psychological literature. This research sought to explore association between self-criticism (as captured terms inadequate self, hated and reassured self) victimisation, also addressing moderating effects gender. Methods: study relies on cross-sectional design, enrolling sample 328 adolescents (Mage = 14.93; SDage 0.81; 162 females, 49.4%). Participants completed short questionnaire about their age, gender, family's socio-economic status. They answered questions from Forms Self-Criticising/Attacking Self-Reassuring Scale Florence Bullying Victimisation Scales. Results: Statistical analysis indicated gender moderated only interplay self victimisation. Conclusions: Through multidimensional approach, these findings provided further insight into phenomenon yielding evidence key role during critical developmental stage, such as adolescence. Limitations, implications, future directions are discussed.

Prevention of eating disorders: 2024 in review DOI

This review of 20 prevention-related publications in Eating Disorders during 2024 is framed by three models: (1) Mental Health Intervention Spectrum: health promotion ➔ types prevention case identification/referral for treatment; (2) the cycle: rationale and theory, shaped critical reviews clarifying risk protective factors program innovation feasibility studies efficacy effectiveness research dissemination; (3) definitions links between eating disorder psychopathology, disordered behavior, disorders. Nine articles were category (including screening studies) gaps/shortcomings field; addressed correlates putative pathology; eight involved creation, adaptation, or upscaling programs: pilot projects, one study, four investigations effectiveness. Seven implications improvement are presented. For example, because multidimensional sociocultural paramount importance to spectrum eating, all forms should be designed, from outset, establish maintain non-hierarchical, participatory collaboration academic researchers inclusive groups stakeholders.
