Adolescents’ Self and Bullying Victimisation: The Key Role of Gender

Background/Objectives:
The
primary
factors
influencing
victimisation
in
bullying
have
recently
become
a
topic
of
debate
the
psychological
literature.
This
research
sought
to
explore
association
between
self-criticism
(as
captured

inadequate
self,
hated
and
reassured
self)
victimisation,
also
addressing
moderating
effects
gender.
Methods:

relies
on
cross-sectional
design,
enrolling
sample
328
adolescents
(Mage

14.93;

females,
49.4%).
Participants

short
questionnaire
about
their
age,
gender,
family's
socio-economic
status.

Self-Reassuring
Scale

Bullying
Victimisation
Scales.
Results:
Statistical
analysis
indicated
gender
moderated
only
interplay
self
victimisation.
Conclusions:
Through
multidimensional
approach,

findings
provided
further
insight
into
phenomenon
yielding
evidence
key
role
during
critical
developmental
stage,

as
adolescence.

is

three
models:

clarifying

disordered
behavior,
disorders.
Nine
articles
were
category
(including
screening
studies)
gaps/shortcomings
field;
addressed

putative
pathology;
eight

creation,
adaptation,

upscaling
programs:

projects,

study,
four
investigations
effectiveness.
Seven
implications
improvement
are
presented.

disorders

personality
traits

differences

eating
disorders,

taxonomies,

Triad

DT
(i.e.,
Machiavellianism,
psychopathy,
narcissism).

current
study
aimed
to
address
association
between
also
exploring
potential
involvement

becoming

concerns
(worries

appearance),
avoidance

compulsive
self-monitoring

419
participants.

correlation
