Abstract This study investigates the proximate composition, aflatoxin contamination, and their implications on health wellbeing of broilers layers, as well comparison from two poultry feed manufacturing companies (C1 C2) located in Jos Kaduna, Nigeria. A total 168 samples were collected four types (starters, finishers, chicks, growers) these companies. Samples ground, sieved, analyzed for moisture, protein, fat, ash, fiber, carbohydrate, energy, content using standard methods. Proximate analysis results revealed significant differences nutritional components between locations. In C1, moisture ranged 8 to 18%, while C2, where levels 17%. The protein C1 C2 14.5% 24% ~ 25%. Fat was similar both (5%–8%) ash (5%–8%). Carbohydrate 46 62% 46% 60.8% C2. Aflatoxin exceeded recommended threshold 20 μg/kg, particularly starter feeds (S1, S3, S7) finisher S4). Statistical analyses that dominant factors influencing quality. Moisture contributed fungal growth subsequent with a positive correlation (r = 0.92) negative − 0.68). Higher may reduce concentration increase risk contamination. indicates contamination significantly affect across plants. Broilers exposed high experienced reduced rates, immunosuppression, increased mortality. Layers showed decreased egg production quality prolonged exposure. recommendations include improved control, regular testing, use detoxifying agents mitigate ensuring consumer safety.
