Setiu Lagoon experienced shoreline alterations, leading to the opening of a new inlet and closing old one. To evaluate effects these alterations on tidal flow in this shallow narrow lagoon, numerical hydrodynamic model was developed. The model-predicted water level current velocities were validated against field measurements, which yielded high simulation skill. transport particles residence time under different configurations also investigated through implementation tracers released from R1, R2, R3, represent pollution sources. results indicated that particle varied spatially temporally depending release locations, proximity inlet, strength. Comparing scenarios, flushing efficiency improved with presence both inlets, resulting shorter less than 50 days. findings research are vital for understanding restricted while evaluating possible adverse its quality. Although work is case-study based, output applicable other lagoon systems similar characteristics.

The transport pathways and exchange characteristics of the Kamil Abdüş Lagoon in Istanbul, Turkey, are simulated using a finite element model with Lagrangian particle tracking module. lagoon is process being reconfigured. simulations performed draft configuration. effect winds number particles on e-folding time simulated. Results show that strongly dominated by correlation coefficient 0.897 between wind residual current magnitudes. e-folds 9.1 days under realistic 14.3 when there no confidence levels 5%. study uses six numbers ranging 65073 2730486. A methodology based proposed. It observed approximately 784 000 necessary to obtain 5% level confidence. With problematic history new planning options, has potential be used as an example setting, all-field ground for anthropogenically engineered coastal ecosystems.

The aim of this research was to identify the impacts land use and subsequent pulse-driven events on water quality across a gradient urbanization spanning three blackwater rivers in northeast Florida that contribute common estuary ecosystem. Three St. Augustine, FL, were classified as rural, suburban, urban, based percentages residential, industrial, commercial parcel type. Turbidity, dissolved oxygen, fluorescent organic matter, chlorophyll a, salinity, pH measured at 15 min intervals from May December 2020. Monthly phosphate, nitrate, ammonium, total coliforms, E. coli concentrations also examined. Principal component analyses identified distance freshwater source, inlet, major sources variance between sites. Significant physicochemical differences sites are more likely due site’s proximity an inlet or rather than percent urban parcels, site saltwater influences should be considered its influence estuarine systems. This study provides insight into potential responses urbanization, lack thereof, addresses challenges selecting optimal locations for long-term situ monitoring studies rivers.
