Allelopathy, a biological phenomenon involving the production and release of secondary metabolites known as allelochemicals, plays critical role in plant interactions agroecosystem dynamics. Phenolic compounds are significant class allelochemicals that profoundly affect competition, soil health, microbial communities. When released into soil, their action depends on soil's physico-chemical characteristics This review comprehensively inspects phenolic allelochemicals' structure-function relationship, direct combat with root cells rhizosphere, ecological functions, succession stress tolerance. characterized by diverse structures roles, offer sustainable alternative to synthetic herbicides due minimal residual impact environment rapid biodegradation. Additionally, addresses challenges future directions applying aiming bridge gap between theory practical agricultural applications for environmental protection crop productivity enhancement.

This study examines the diversity of weeds and allelopathic impact selected weed extracts on seed germination seedling development Hibiscus cannabinus L., a leafy vegetable from Malvaceae family. Field observations were conducted March to June 2023 in B. Thandrapadu, village Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district. We identified 34 species belonging 16 families with varied important value index (IVI). Trianthema portulacastrum exhibited highest IVI at 27.11%, followed by Portulaca oleracea 15.59%, Boerhavia diffusa 15.54%, Cynodon dactylon 14.54% Parthenium hysterophorus 14.52%. Allelopathy effect aqueous top three varying concentrations performance H. was assessed. All demonstrated strong growth 100% concentration weakest 25%. Comparatively, T. showed more pronounced than other two species. Therefore, environmentally sustainable appropriate management strategies are necessary for agricultural sector during initial stages or prior crop planting.

In order to enhance the sustainable development of agroforestry system, this work explored allelopathic effects between two medicinal plants. Siraitia grosvenorii was selected as recipient plant and investigated different concentrations fig tree (Ficus carica L.) stem aqueous extracts on seed germination, seedling growth, physiological indicators S. through simulated rainfall fogging pathways, exploring whether plants are suitable for integrated planting management. It found that low concentration (5.0-10.0 g/L) not only promoted another grosvenorii, but also significantly improved its biomass photosynthetic parameters. However, with increase (15.0-25.0 g/L), activities superoxide dismutase peroxidase first increased then decreased, content malondialdehyde increased. The synthetic allelopathy index showed a pattern inhibition. indicated there is certain relationship plants, making them intercropping in system.

Phenolic allelochemicals from root exudates dominate rhizosphere formation, lead to autotoxicity in plants subjected continuous monoculture (CM) stress and induce the emergence of replant disease. However, regulatory mechanisms governing transport phenolics plant roots remain poorly understood. A potential phenolic efflux transporter Rehmannia glutinosa, designated RgMATE35, has been preliminarily characterized. The objective this study was elucidate molecular function RgMATE35 secretion investigate its role development disease using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), genetic transformation, HPLC-Q-TOF-MS other analytical techniques. tissue expression pattern analysis revealed that it is highly expressed roots. Transient confirmed localization protein plasma membranes. An assessment activity Xenopus oocytes indicated plays a facilitating labeled ferulic acid ([2H3]-FA) trans-p-coumaric [2H6]-pCA. results functional studies R. glutinosa demonstrated positively mediates FA pCA into rhizosphere. physiological transgenic CM overexpression or repression resulted notable changes degree autotoxic injury plants. These findings demonstrate positive through acids They also provide fundamental framework for elucidating mechanism which MATEs regulate allelochemicals.

Limited phytodiversity and regeneration rates occur in some of the southern Brazilian formations known as Myrtacean Woodlands. Data on phytotoxicity, chemical composition, allelopathic potential Myrciaria cuspidata O. Berg, a dominant species such woodlands, is missing. In this study, both composition phytotoxic activity an aqueous extract (AE) from M. leaves were investigated. Target plants model Lactuca sativa L. weed Bidens pilosa Germination rates, seedling growth, phenotypic responses target assessed following AE application to determine inhibitory capacity leaf extract. was reduced delayed presence AE. Strong inhibition germination recorded B. achenes under same treatment. Pre-germinated seedlings essentially not affected by AE, whereas those showed negative developmental responses. Overall, consistent vitro soil substrate. Detrimental effects most apparent roots included tip darkening growth anomalies often preceded loss mitochondrial viability. proved rich phenolic compounds including quercetin, gallic tannic acid. To sum up, shows environmentally friendly pre-emergence bioherbicide low residual effect minor environmental impact.
