Rising nitrate contamination in water systems poses significant risks to public health and ecosystem stability, necessitating advanced modeling understand dynamics more accurately. This study applies the long short-term memory (LSTM) investigate hydrologic environmental factors influencing concentration rivers aquifers across state of Alabama southeast United States. By integrating dynamic data such as streamflow groundwater levels with static catchment attributes, machine learning model identifies primary drivers fluctuations, offering detailed insights into complex interactions affecting multi-year concentrations natural aquatic systems. In addition, a novel LSTM-based approach utilizes synthetic surface predict levels, helping address monitoring gaps connected these rivers. method reveals potential correlations between dynamics, which is particularly meaningful given lack quality observations many aquifers. Field applications further show that, while LSTM effectively captures seasonal trends, limitations representing extreme events suggest areas for refinement. These findings contribute data-driven management, enhancing understanding behavior interconnected

This study investigated the conditions and modes of interaction between nutrients heavy metals within river lake environments under multivariate conditions. Nitrogen phosphorus were categorized into dissolved phosphorus, inorganic nitrogen, ammonium nitrate nitrogen based on their chemical composition. Their correlations with metal elements scrutinized utilizing Bayesian models. The results revealed following: (1) A robust interrelationship was observed sediment soluble sediments water bodies. (2) In environments, competition relatively weak, influence environmental factors variable, without discernible patterns. phenomenon may be attributed to low concentration in overlying absence external inputs. (3) Competition weaker than that lakes. flow dynamics velocity rivers, coupled strong self-purification ability. (4) Dissolved (DP) exhibited greater control over direction adsorption desorption compared (IP). (5) Similarly, total (DTN) (TN). (6) Nitrate (NO3–-N) (NH4+-N) simultaneously controlled directions such as Cr, Mn, Ni, Zn, Pb sediment, action dependent soil capacity. These findings provide valuable insights complex interactions shaping nutrient-metal aquatic systems, offering potential avenues for enhanced management remediation strategies.

Water is a nutrient for life and resource human development, therefore towns cities often build treatment systems to provide wholesome water consumption, bathing, washing, etc. For rural communities where centralised plants are lacking, groundwater (GW) the of choice due its relatively low pathogenic loading turbidity. However, GW highly susceptible contamination from anthropogenic activities. In Bono East region Ghana, 94 % solid waste 89 wastewater disposed on roadside without treatment, posing risk resources. Despite potential in region, few researchers have assessed quality, none has evaluated infectious consumption. this case study, quality Apaaso-Tafo community was health risks posed consumers were evaluated. Twenty samples collected ten boreholes. The concentrations metals (Ca2+, Mg2+ Fe) determined using atomic absorption spectroscopy, bacteria (total faecal coliform) Multiple Tube Fermentation Membrane Filter Techniques, physicochemical qualities electrometric, titrimetric, argentometric spectrophotometric methods. indices (WQI) infection probability drinking computed. WQI showed that most (80 %) within acceptable limits. Except pH, temperature, turbidity total coliform bacteria, all parameters met WHO standards. 40 boreholes contained 50 500 cfu/100 mL daily between 1 7.63 %. It recommended standpipes be fitted with membrane or nano filters capable removing viruses reduce risk. authorities should also monitor regularly respond changes appropriate intervention such as issuing 'boil-before-drinking' notices encouraging parents bottled sachet their young children. Future research an increased number communities, sample size sampling frequency conducted enhance generalisability these findings.

This study aims to assess the vulnerability of groundwater in Nile Delta contamination and evaluate its suitability for drinking irrigation. A total 28 wells (ranging from 23 120 m depth) two surface water samples were analyzed dissolved solids (TDS), heavy metals, quality index (GWQI), hazard quotient (HQ). The findings reveal that deep (60–120 m) displays paleo-water characteristics, with low TDS, hardness, minimal metal contamination. In contrast, shallow (<60 is categorized into three groups: paleo-water-like, recent elevated TDS mixed water. Most (64%) are Ca-HCO3 type, while 28% Na-HCO3, 8% Na-Cl, latter associated sewage infiltration. deemed suitable irrigation, but varied significantly—4% classified as “excellent”, 64% “good”, 32% “poor”. HQ analysis identified manganese a significant health risk, 56% exceeding safe levels. These highlight varying Delta, emphasizing concerns regarding risks particularly manganese, need improved monitoring management.
