Groundwater is an important source of freshwater. At the same time, anthropogenic activities, in particular, industrialization, urbanization, population growth, and excessive application fertilizers, are some major reasons for groundwater quality deterioration. Therefore, present study conducted to evaluate by using integrated water indices a geospatial approach identify different zones propose management strategies improvement quality. was evaluated through physicochemical parameters (pH, chloride (Cl−), fluoride(F−), iron (Fe−2), nitrate (NO3−1), nitrite (NO2), arsenic (As), total hardness, bicarbonate (HCO3−), calcium (Ca+2), magnesium (Mg+2), color, taste, turbidity, dissolved solids (TDS)) microbiological including coliforms, fecal Escherichia coli samples collected from sanitation agency (WASA) urban units. Irrigation crucial assessment, (electrical conductivity (EC), residual sodium carbonates (RSC), adsorption ratio (SAR)), were also at more than 1100 sites within area upper central Punjab. After collecting data parameters, analysis initiated compute index quality, four-step protocol which Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) used determine weights selected generating pairwise matrix, on relative importance Satty scale. The then classified into five classes assessment drinking (excellent, good, medium, bad, very bad) four irrigation permissible, unsuitable). computing values as well purposes, interpolated, various maps developed status area. Mitigation pollution involve control, such monitoring industrial discharge points managing waste properly. Additionally, treating wastewater primary, secondary, or tertiary stages significantly improves reducing contaminants like heavy metals, agents, chemical ions, safeguarding resources. findings highlight significant regional variations issues, with metal concerns concentrated notably Lahore widespread emerging contamination across all studied divisions. This suggests systemic problem linked untreated effluents poorly managed sewerage systems. computed Lahore, Sargodha, Rawalpindi divisions indicate ranging marginal unfit, underscoring urgency remediation. Conversely, other fall medium class, potentially suitable purposes. Notably, 27% poses challenge supply agencies, emphasizing critical need pre-disposal treatments. These treatments could rehabilitate 9%, 35%, 41% area, respectively, pointing toward tangible, scalable solutions broader resources public health. With current pace deterioration, access public. government should prioritize implementing strict mechanisms effluent discharge, proper curb contamination. Establishing comprehensive treatments, especially stages, imperative address prevalent rehabilitating up affected areas. creating proactive policies allocating sustainable steps ensuring resource security health face deteriorating urgent action needed escalating threats groundwater, measures safeguard ensure
