A remarkable 35% enhancement in the photocatalytic and electrocatalytic abilities of an ilmenite nickel titanate (NiTiO 3 ) material is reported. This boost catalytic performance achieved by simply creating a static distortion rhombohedral unit cell replacing small proportion small‐size nondegenerate Ni (69 pm) with large‐size degenerate Cu (73 pm). The materials are synthesized using simple sol–gel method. appropriate doping amount facilitates better separation intrinsic charge carrier pairs inhibiting their recombination. electrochemical activities durable aqueous MB dye (10 ppm) KOH (1 molar) electrolyte solutions found to be directly associated this improvement inherent transfer characteristics. enhanced photodissociation (42–56%) specific capacitance (381–450 F g −1 full accord investigations carried out crystallographic optoelectronic analysis, charging–discharging measurements, impedance (EIS) spectroscopy investigations. Same high textural surface areas or controllable particle morphologies might show far photo/electrocatalytic variety practical applications.
