Soccer is a widely practiced and highly mediatic sport discipline. For this reason, the incidence of injuries associated with game an active area research. High-impact actions occur during game, affecting knee joint resulting in osteoarthritis. In line, osteoarthritis results from mechanical biological stress due to lesions that are not adequately repaired, inflammatory process. This occurs because degradation extracellular matrix predominates over synthesis by chondrocytes. Therefore, soccer players, traumatic actions, displaying degenerative evolution. Osteoarthritis up 32% male 3 times more than general population. On other hand, female players main target population suffer osteoarthritis, higher significant observed compared men. context, certain diet supplements have instrumental potential prevention and/or treatment aim narrative review present possible research lines implement treatments for players.

Obesity is a major global health challenge, contributing to metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and hypertension. The increasing prevalence of obesity, driven by sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary habits, genetic predisposition, underscores the urgent need for effective therapeutic strategies. Conventional pharmacological treatments, including appetite suppressants modulators, often fail provide sustainable weight loss due side effects, adherence, limited long-term efficacy. As result, natural bioactive compounds have gained attention their anti-obesity potential. However, clinical application hindered bioavailability, rapid metabolism, inefficient delivery. Lipid-based nano-carriers, liposomes, solid lipid nanoparticles, nanostructured carriers, offer promising solution enhancing solubility, stability, targeted delivery these compounds. These advanced systems improve retention, enable controlled release, enhance action on adipose tissue pathways. Additionally, functionalized stimulus-responsive nanocarriers present innovative approaches precision obesity treatment. Despite advancements, challenges remain in large-scale production, regulatory approval, safety. Overcoming barriers critical ensuring successful translation nano-formulated therapies. This review explores potential lipid-based nano-carriers optimizing efficacy highlights role advancing next-generation management

Background Environmental pollution, including exposure to carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), poses serious health risks, particularly through oxidative stress, which may lead neurodegenerative damage. Antioxidants, especially those found in natural products, show potential mitigating these toxic effects. Pomegranate juice (PJ), rich bioactive phytochemicals, has demonstrated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. Objective This study aimed investigate the protective effects of PJ on neurotoxicity induced by CCl4 rats, assessing specific markers enzymatic activity, apoptotic cell death. Material Methods Twenty-eight male Wistar rats were divided into four groups: Control, CCl4, PJ, CCl4+PJ. The group received intraperitoneal injections (0.2 ml/100 g) twice weekly for six weeks, while orally (4 ml/kg) daily 30 days. CCl4+PJ both treatments sequence. Brain tissues analysed malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), S-transferase (GST), reductase (GR), carboxylesterase (CaE) activity. Apoptotic death was assessed using TUNEL staining. Results resulted a marked increase MDA levels AChE activity brain tissue (p<0.05), alongside significant decrease GSH GST (p<0.05). Treatment with significantly lowered compared However, showed no changes group. staining indicated reduction cells versus group, suggesting cellular damage treatment Conclusions demonstrates against CCl4-induced stress reducing apoptosis. These findings suggest that could serve as agent risks associated environmental pollutants like CCl4.
