Abstract Plastic waste has a negative impact on marine ecosystems and the quantity of this source anthropogenic pollution continues to increase. Several studies have investigated plastic biodegradation using various microorganisms. In study, we isolated fungi from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Korean seacoasts evaluated their ability degrade by comparing diameters clear zones they formed polycaprolactone (PCL) agar. We 262 strains 47 sources identified 108 fungal species via molecular methods. The PCL agar assay revealed that 87 presented with varying degrees degradation capacity. Among them, certain were strong degraders. present study demonstrated possibility some inhabiting could potentially it in environment. believe discoveries made herein lay theoretical practical foundations for development novel bioremediation systems plastispheres help mitigate environmental issues related wastes.

Entomopathogenic fungi comprise an ecologically important group of specialized pathogens infecting other fungi, invertebrates, and plants. These are species-rich with high diversity broad distribution worldwide. The majority entomopathogenic belong to clavicipitoids, which consist the hypocrealean families, Clavicipitaceae, Cordycipitaceae, Ophiocordycipitaceae, Polycephalomycetaceae. latter is a newly established family that recently separated from Ophiocordycipitaceae accommodate genera, Perennicordyceps, Pleurocordyceps , Polycephalomyces . In recent years, Polycephalomycetaceae has been enriched parasitic hyperparasitic fungi. With 16 species spread across China, Ecuador, Japan, Thailand, most speciose genus in family. this study, we expand number taxa by introducing four new namely, P. clavisynnema, multisynnema, neoagarica sanduensis We provide detailed descriptions illustrations infer genus-level phylogenies based on combined 6-loci gene sequence dataset comprising internal transcribed spacer region (ITS), small subunit ribosomal RNA (SSU), large rRNA (LSU), translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF-1α), polymerase II largest (RPB1), second (RPB2). This study contributes knowledge regard specifically Hypocreales more broadly.
