Saprobic fungi are known for their critical role in decomposition and nutrient cycling. The study of saprobic is equally important, as it helps understanding ecological roles identifying hidden diversity. This focused on Aquilaria , which poorly studied compared to economically important hosts like coffee, tea, rubber. Our rigorous process led the collection two new terrestrial from Guangdong Yunnan provinces China. After extensive phylogenetic analyses detailed comparison morphological characteristics, collections were identified species belonging Pleosporales, Ascomycota. Aquilariomyces maomingensis sp. nov. was isolated sinensis Province, while Mangifericomes aquilariae Province. Full descriptions, photo plates, (maximum likelihood Bayesian inference based LSU, ITS, SSU, tef 1-α, rpb 2 gene combinations) provided, along with a comprehensive list associated spp.

During an investigation of soil microfungi in Korea, a fungal strain designated KNUF-23-236 was isolated from sample collected Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, Korea. Molecular analyses using the ITS regions and LSU, SSU, RPB2 genes revealed that Scytalidium aurantiacum album are its close phylogenetic relatives, with sequence similarity levels ranging 93.8% to 100.0%. However, based on cultural morphological characteristics differs S. by having white-to-yellow colonies without reddish pigmentation, smaller hyphae (1.4-3.4 μm vs. 1.6-4.8 3.2-8.0 μm, respectively), arthrospores transition hyaline brown rather than remaining consistently hyaline, oval, septate chlamydospores form singly or chains, branching. Furthermore, trees constructed alone, concatenated LSU sequences, combined sequences three loci (ITS, RPB2) confirmed distinct position within genus Scytalidium. Based combination evidence, is identified as novel species genus, for which name terrigenum sp. nov. proposed.
