Abstract During periods of weak sunlight, to maintain the molten salt temperature in a square absorber tube (SAT), flow is at low Reynolds number ( Re ), accompanied by heat transfer (HR) performance. To enhance HR performance (AE) , wavy‐tape insert (WET) first introduced. The AE with WET evaluated under various operational conditions and structural parameters. Results show that generates substantial swirling AE, which promotes fluid mixing then enhances HR. Compared smooth SAT, friction factor f ) for increases least 2.55 times, whereas Nusselt Nu 1.11–5.77 times. Additionally, entropy generation rate (EGR) exergy loss (EL) decrease 35.54%–82.65% 43.43%–84.61%, respectively. Furthermore, transport efficiency thermal energy (TETE) (EE) increase 6.58%–26.24% 10.26%–46.13%, This study may have potential offer valuable insights design particularly terms improving efficiency.

Sol-gel coatings are commonly used to prevent corrosion from molten salt mixtures in CSP plants. Until now, they have been driven primarily by cost considerations, without integrating environmental criteria into the modeling and decision-making process. The novelty of this study lies development an evaluation framework that incorporates impact alongside technical economic factors, providing a more sustainable approach. This work assesses porosity, thermal shock resistance, thickness determine optimal sol-gel coating.
