Abstract Background Steam explosion pretreatment has been proven to be an effective treatment for breaking down the recalcitrant character of lignin–carbohydrate complexes (LCC) in lignocellulosic biomass. This study investigated production lignin-derived products from steam-exploded palm oil mill biomass waste (POMLBW), that is, empty fruit bunches (EFB), kernel shells (KS), and fibers (KF), also known as mesocarp fibers. explosions cause lignin depolymerization, which forms various polyphenols. Abstract When optimizing the process parameters of acidic ethanolic organosolv process, aim is usually to maximize delignification and/or lignin purity. However, such as temperature, time, ethanol and catalyst concentration, respectively, can also be used vary structural properties obtained lignin, including molecular weight ratio aliphatic versus phenolic hydroxyl groups, among others. Lignin, due to its availability, molecular structure, reported barrier properties, and chemical modification prospects, is gaining increasing attention for potential in biobased functional coatings. Herein, softwood kraft lignin (KL) was surface functionalized (phosphorylated), yielding phosphate (KLP) engineer a pigment assessing inhibitory properties epoxy-based anticorrosive The aim emulate the conventional inhibitive mechanism of zinc by introducing partial solubility KLP. This facilitates formation passivation layer (iron phosphate), which prerequisite inhibition at interface between metal coating when it exposed corrosive conditions. Therefore, utilization KLP as signifies an innovative approach field synthesized reacting KL with phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Subsequently, incorporated into amine-cured Bisphenol-A (BPA) epoxy (KLP-EA) dry film thickness 80 μm evaluated per industrial salt spray testing coatings (ISO 9227:2017). Furthermore, corrosion resistance KLP-EA against commercially available phosphate-based (C-EA) unmodified lignin-based (KL-EA), recognized solely mechanism. polarization test demonstrated that effectively inhibited corrosion, resulting lower Icorr values. Coffee husks are an abundant and underutilized biomass waste released from coffee production. Experimental analysis showed that consisted of 39.2 ± 0.2 wt% cellulose, 12.6 0.1 hemicellulose, 23.3 Klason lignin, 2.9 0.4 acid-soluble 8.7 extractives, 9.5 ash. Moreover, different minor elements, including K, Ca, Mg, Al, Fe, Ti, S, Si, were found. Subsequently, used for the extraction lignin using alkaline treatment. As a result, microparticles formed with relatively uniform size 0.55 0.11 mm. Altogether, current article provided useful data valorization primary properties further use.
