Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have recently drawn enormous attention due to not only their unique chemical, biological, and optical properties but also because a variety of renewable biomasses are readily utilized as carbon sources in synthesis. This study investigated the synthesis, characterization, functional evaluation CQDs from unbleached mechanical pulp natural lignocellulosic resource. The were synthesized using one-step hydrothermal synthesis with varying temperature, time, consistency. resulting exhibit spherical shape size distribution 9.73 ± 0.82 nm lattice parameters 0.21 0.34 nm, indicating graphite core. photoluminescence spectra showed evident fluorescence characteristics, an emission peak at 435 excitation wavelength 370 nm. as-prepared chemically composed C=C C=O bonds linked hydroxyl carboxyl groups, which typically found lignocellulose-based CQDs. demonstrated antibacterial activity exceeding 99.9% against E. coli lowest concentration 0.75 mg/mL. Demonstrating its antioxidation property, DPPH radical scavenging surpassed 90% more than 40 µg/mL CQD solution.

Ulcerative colitis (UC), including chronic colitis, is characterized by severe inflammation and oxidative stress in the colon. This study investigated therapeutic potential of microwave-assisted Opuntia humifusa extract (MA-OHE), prepared using water (WE) water-methanol (WME) solvents, a model mice induced dextran sodium sulfate (DSS). Chemical profiling UV-vis, FTIR, HPLC analyses revealed that WME contains significantly higher concentrations phenolic flavonoid compounds than WE. These bioactive enhance antioxidant capacity WME, as demonstrated superior radical scavenging activity DPPH ABTS assays more pronounced suppression nitric oxide (NO) synthesis RAW 264.7 cells activated with LPS. In DSS-induced model, treatment notably enhanced indicators, such restoring body weight, lowering disease index (DAI) score, maintaining colon length. Additionally, MA-OHE decreased proinflammatory cytokine levels, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, dose-dependent manner, demonstrating strong anti-inflammatory effects. Histological examination additionally validated recovery colonic crypts goblet reduction inflammatory infiltration groups treated MA-OHE. findings highlight compared WE, which attributed to its richer composition compounds. MA-OHE, particularly antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, tissue-protective effects, indicating natural for management. Proinflammatory level modulation underscores effectiveness mitigating supporting tissue recovery.

Abstract In this paper, a type of carbon dots (CDs) was prepared at 220°C for 8 h by hydrothermal method using Geranium carolinianum L. (GCL) as the source. GCL CDs were spherical in shape with particle size 2.8 ± 0.6 nm. vitro studies showed that had good scavenging activity against free radicals DPPH and ABTS, protective effect H 2 O ‐induced oxidative damage H9c2 cells, suggesting have antioxidant activity. vivo on isoprenaline (ISO)‐induced acute myocardial ischemic injury (AMII) rats, which reflected their ability to significantly reduce S‐T band electrocardiogram, markedly infarcted area AMII, effectively rapidly restore damaged cardiomyocytes, apoptosis prevented further cardiomyocytes. The comprehensive results above experiments indicate mechanism AMII is probably through elimination stress body, so cardiomyocytes can be restored, play AMII.
