Pineapple (Ananas comosus) is one of the most economically important fruit cultivars in South Africa. The locally consumed, processed into various industrial products or exported to foreign markets. Approximately 115,106 metric tons pineapple are harvested value chain generates significant amounts waste, form pomace, peel, crown, stem, core and base. If not properly treated, waste (PAW) could have a profound detrimental impact on environment. This calls for advanced technological platforms transform PAW useful bio-based products. A biorefinery potent strategy convert multiple food non-food while effectively disposing waste. objective this review explore possible pathways valorization energy material biorefinery. paper looks at 10 including biogas, biohythane, bioethanol, biobutanol, biohydrogen, pyrolytic products, single-cell proteins, animal feed, vermicompost bioactive compounds. Several (i.e., biochemical, chemical, physical thermochemical) available valuable goods. Amongst them, biochemical route appears be favorable option PAW.
