Experimental Control of Day and Night Temperatures to Improve the Growth and External Quality of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge

Salvia
miltiorrhiza
is
a
medicinal
crop
belonging
to
the
Lamiaceae
family.
It
commonly
used
in
China
as
an
ingredient
health-promoting
teas
that
enhance
immunity
and
prevent
diseases.
Although
some
Korean
local
farmers
have
reported
S.
grows
vigorously
high
temperatures

roots
with
deep
red
color,
there
no
clear
evidence
or
literature
confirm
this.
Therefore,
this
study
investigated
growth

quality
of
response
different
day
night
temperature
levels.
Day
treatments
were
designed
into
four
levels:

respectively.
Among
parameters

plant
sizes,
shoot
height
number
showed
highest
values
32/27°C
treatment,
while
other
parameters,
particularly
width
root
length
exhibited
28/23°C
treatment.
In
contrast,
majority

fresh
weight
dry
weight,
which
are
indicative
biomass,
lowest
20/15°C
suggesting
miltiorrhiza,
species
prefers
relatively
temperatures,
thrives
warmer
conditions.
Importantly,
weights,
likely
be
correlated
market
value
same
significance
levels
within
range
24/19–32/27°C,
but
not
low-temperature
treatment
20/15°C.
Thus,
cultivation

feasible
all
ranges
except
for
20/15°C,

Vegetable
quality
parameters
are
established
according
to
standards
primarily
based
on
visual
characteristics.
Although
knowledge
of
biochemical
changes
in
the
secondary
metabolism

development
