Background/objectives: Overweight and obesity are global public health problems associated with chronic disease mental health. Physical activity (PA) is essential throughout a person’s life; an active lifestyle helps people to live healthier lives improve their functional abilities, such as executive function (EF). This systematic review aimed analyze the evidence on effects of PA EF in overweight and/or obese adults (≥18 years old). Methods: Records from PubMed, ScienceDirect, JSTOR databases were searched and, following PRISMA guidelines, seven studies included present review. Risk bias was assessed using National Institute Health Quality Assessment Tool for Observational Cohort Cross-Sectional Studies. Results indicate that acute, short-term, long-term interventions effective strategy inhibitory control, working memory, processing speed adults. Furthermore, indicates can be measure predict adherence programs weight loss. Conclusions: Exercise physical promising therapeutic promote loss obesity. Additionally, may further explored predictor healthy aging due choices made life benefits result.

Abstract Background: Ultra processed foods (UPFs) are widely considered to have negative health impacts, particularly associated with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. However, their consumption continues rise globally, driven by convenience, affordability, extensive marketing. This study aims understand young consumers' knowledge perceptions of ultra (UPFs), identify factors influencing attitudes dietary behaviours, assess the impact awareness on UPF consumption. Methods: Qualitative data was gathered through semi-structured focus group interviews involving a sample 11 university students, aged 18–25 years, mixed gender, studying non-nutrition-related degrees. Data analysed according principles content analysis followed an iterative approach. Results: The findings indicate that while many participants demonstrated solid understanding UPFs connection high-fat, salt, sugar (HFSS) content, these were still significant part diets. Key driving included emotional satisfaction, demonstrating disconnect between nutritional practical choices. research also highlights role marketing media in shaping perceptions, misleading information often creating confusion around healthiness categorisation certain UPFs. Conclusions: results highlight need for strategies enhance availability affordability whole, nutritious adults. Findings stress importance public initiatives simplify identification Further is required examine diverse consumer groups refine interventions aimed at reducing promoting healthier, balanced

Food addiction, or ultra-processed food addiction (UPFA), has emerged as a reliable and validated clinical entity that is especially common in individuals seeking treatment for eating disorders (EDs), substance use (SUDs) co-occurring psychiatric (including mood, anxiety trauma-related disorders). The science of UPFA relied on the development proven reliability Yale Addiction Scale (YFAS), subsequent versions, e.g., modified YFAS 2.0 (mYFAS2.0), well neurobiological advances understanding hedonic eating. Despite its emergence valid with important implications, best approaches remain elusive. To address this gap, we have developed described standardized assessment protocol patients being treated residential program serving multi-morbidity. Patients who meet mYFAS2.0 criteria are offered one three possible approaches: (1) usual (TAU), using standard ED dietary approaches; (2) harm reduction (HR), offering support decreasing consumption all UPFs particular identified UPFs; (3) abstinence-based (AB), abstaining completely from UPFs. Changes scores other measures comorbidities compared between admission discharge.

Food addiction (FA) and binge eating disorder (BED) co-occur share compulsive symptoms. When using an FA measure, it is important to evaluate its performance in a population presenting eating. The study aims validate the Addiction-like Eating Behavior Scale (AEBS) among clinical sample characterized by overweight/obesity incremental validity over Yale Addiction 2.0 (YFAS). Patients seeking help for (n = 220), between January 2020 July 2023, completed online questionnaires, including FA, eating, BMI evaluations. factor structure, internal consistency, convergent, divergent, were tested. had mean age of 44.4 years old (SD 12.7) 38.2 8.0). two-factor structure provided good fit data, with loadings from 0.55 0.82 (except item 15) consistency was high (ω 0.84–0.89). AEBS positively correlated YFAS (r 0.66), 0.67), grazing 0.47), craving 0.74), 0.26), negatively dietary restraint −0.37), supporting convergent divergent validity. For each measure linear regression showed that “appetite drive” subscale unique contribution YFAS. This evidence valid patients overweight/obesity. However, questions remain as whether or

Objective This study aimed to assess the association between ultraprocessed foods (UPF) consumption, eating disorders (EDs), food addiction and body image concerns. Design Systematic review following Preferred Reporting Items for Reviews Meta-Analyses guidelines. Data sources Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, EMBASE, LILACS APA PsycInfo databases, studies published 2009 July 2024. Eligibility criteria We included cross-sectional cohort involving individuals all ages, evaluating UPF classified by ‘NOVA system’, EDs, image. No restrictions were placed on diagnostic criteria, age gender. Studies that modelled consumption as both an exposure outcome included. extraction synthesis quality assessment performed two independent reviewers. Methodological was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal checklist. Results did not identify any longitudinal studies. Nine (n=54 367 participants). One EDs types, including restrictive, bulimic, binge other (not otherwise specified); three examined dissatisfaction, while five investigated addiction. The significantly associated with ED significant associations identified restrictive dissatisfaction. Conclusion systematic highlights a gap in research this topic. Although some have been found, findings are limited methodological limitations. lack emphasises need more rigorous accurately direction these relationships. Addiction is a complex neurobiological disorder characterized by compulsive drug-seeking and use despite harmful consequences. While abstinence-based approaches have long been the cornerstone of addiction treatment, recent years seen legitimate challenges from harm reduction clinicians, within food realm, eating treatment practitioners. This perspective emphasizes role abstinence in recovery using Koob model its concept hyperkatifeia these reservations. However, further research essential before can be recommended. We need to 1) identify what qualifies as relation ultra-processed food, 2) clarify suitable situations disease progression for optimal implementation this approach, 3) provide clear guidelines when it harmful, 4) conduct clinical studies confirm effectiveness strategy long-term late-stage addiction.
