To explore the association between daily extreme heat exposure (daily mean temperature is greater than 90th percentile for month) and pediatric (birth to 18 years old) urgent care clinic, emergency department, inpatient hospitalization discharge diagnoses any causes 12 individual morbidities of interest. A time-stratified, case-crossover study design. We analyzed from Saint Louis University-Sisters St. Mary, a non-profit healthcare system in United States, using Virtual Data Warehouse. Our analysis encompassed clinic visits, department hospitalizations within Midwestern network across Missouri, Wisconsin, Oklahoma City metropolitan area, Southern Illinois, States. focused on all examined specific patients during warm season months May through September 2017-2022. For outcome models, an overall model was calculated then each stratified by age, sex, race, neighborhood socioeconomic status, excluding strata with unknown values. found significant associations dehydration, general symptoms, heat-related illnesses, infections. The impact varied demographics, vulnerable groups including children aged one four, males, individuals low status areas. findings highlight important opportunities health promotion communities preschools. Better informing caregivers risks implementing policy level initiatives may help reduce heat. Future research should focus longitudinal studies these dynamics further develop effective mitigation strategies protect populations adverse effects

Climate change is a growing threat to population health, with dangerous combinations of heat and humidity increasing in frequency, particularly South Asia. Evidence suggests that high temperatures stress influence breastfeeding behaviour may lead suboptimal infant young child nutrition. Few studies have quantified the relationship between ambient breastfeeding. Here we evaluate associations wet-bulb temperature daily patterns rural community Bangladesh. We used 23 months time-diary data from 68 maternal-child dyads regional test hypothesis increased negatively outcomes among Shodagor fisher-traders. found higher predicted reduced time allocation, fishers, drove shifts towards night-time decreased mid/late morning feeding. Maternal occupation interaction age strongly influenced diurnal patterns. These results highlight an important role maternal work on infants' vulnerability environmental stress. Dyads' ability behaviourally compensate for extreme be constrained by extended heatwaves, humidity, economic circumstances, suggesting climate will likely exacerbate heat-related risks global health going forward.
