To investigate the prevalence of potentially inappropriate prescribing (PIP) using Screening Tool Older Person's Prescriptions (STOPP) criteria in people with dementia compared without dementia.A retrospective cohort study was conducted Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme 10% sample pharmacy claims. Abstract Background Use of anticholinergic medication is associated with an increased risk cognitive impairment and/or dementia. Despite this, the impact continuing properties in those diagnosed Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) not clear. Methods Analysis data from NILVAD, 18-month randomized controlled trial Nilvadipine AD. Effects ongoing Anticholinergic Cognitive Burden (ACB) on cognition (ADAS-Cog: Cog Subsection) and dementia severity (CDR-sb: Clinical Dementia Rating – Sum Boxes/DAD: Disability Assessment for Dementia) over 18 months was evaluated adjusting important clinical covariates. Results Just one-quarter (27.90%, n = 142/510) patients mild to moderate AD were prescribed a potential/definite anticholinergic. While ACB score greater progression ADAS-Cog/CDR-sb time, higher total predicted DAD, which persisted after robust covariate adjustment (β Coef: −1.53, 95% CI: −2.83 −0.23, p .021). Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore the prevalence potentially inappropriate medication (PIM) among older outpatients (age ≥ 65 years old) with dementia in eight cities China using AGS Beers criteria 2019 and identify potential factor increasing number PIMs. Methods: A cross-sectional about PIM from January 2020 December carried out China, Chengdu, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenyang, Tianjin, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, distributing five major geographical regions (east, west, north, south, central). diagnosis based on International Classification Diseases (ICD-10) identify. Based criteria, prescriptions were evaluated. identification factors completed a binary logistic regression model. Results: Of 18,624 dementia, 3.52% detected 1 PIM, 35.91% received at least two antipsychotic drugs quetiapine olanzapine most frequently prescribed patients accounting for 8.01 7.36%, respectively. Logistic analyses showed that female aged >80 who took more medications exposed easily use. Conclusion: use is highly prevalent, associated risk age, sex, medications. by clinicians anpsychotropic drugs, which much frequent than other drugs.
