Frailty

Usability of APIMedOlder: A Web Application to Manage Potentially Inappropriate Medication in Older Adults

Introduction:
Considering
the
increase
in
proportion
of
older
population
worldwide,
demand
for
health
system
resources
also
arises.
These
tools
optimize
clinical
decision-making,
thus
avoiding
iatrogenesis
and
contributing
to
a
better
quality
life
population.
In
response,
we
created
an
online
web
application,
APIMedOlder,
that
provides
access
healthcare
professionals
allow
potentially
inappropriate
medication
identification
criteria
through
useful
tool
with
simplified
profile,
allowing
its
applicability
practice.
This
study
aims
assess
usability
APIMedOlder
application
by
professionals.Methods:
A
questionnaire,
based
on
System
Usability
Scale,
was
distributed
among
15
(five
pharmacists,
four
physicians,
three
pharmacy
technicians,
nurses),
fully
explore
website.Results:
Overall,
professionals’
evaluation
rated
as
“Best
imaginable”
(mean
score
87.17
points),
individual
scores
ranging
from
75
100
points.
Internal
consistency

achieved.
Specific
questionnaire
items
this
high
included
ease
use,
learning
efficiency,
integration
functions.Conclusion:
The
overall
developed
positive,
being
