The association of bulimic symptoms with sensation seeking is uncertain; however, both behaviors have been linked to alcohol problems. We assessed in a longitudinal, community-based setting whether adolescence associated early adulthood, also accounting for Finnish men (N = 2000) and women 2467) born between 1974-1979 completed Zuckerman's scale (SSS) at age 18. Alcohol problems (Malmö-modified Michigan alcoholism screening test (Mm-MAST) [eating disorder inventory-2, bulimia subscale (EDI-Bulimia), population clinical scoring systems] were defined 22-27. examined relationships SSS, Mm-MAST, EDI-Bulimia using Pearson's correlation coefficient (r) linear regression. moderately correlated (population scoring) among (r 0.21-0.31). was weak 0.06, p 0.006) even weaker non-significant 0.03, 0.214). Adjustment removed the men. Furthermore, there no significant correlations when assessing scoring. Sensation not women. entirely attributable increased those higher seeking. While this may be important on level, its significance minor. Level III, well-designed cohort study.
