AbstractBackground: The past 15 years have seen exponential growth in the fitness and well-being device industry aiming to improve health fitness. However, concerns are emerging regarding possible negative effects of diet trackers (FDT1) whether they may increase disordered eating behaviours. current review is first systematically examine relationship between FDT use both general clinical populations. Methods: following databases were searched: EMBASE, Medline/PubMed, PsychInfo, CINAHL Plus, ERIC, SportDiscus, ASSIA, Social Science Premium, Sociological Abstracts, Sports Medicine Educational Health, SCOPUS, Cochrane Library, ProQuest Dissertation Theses Global. A date limit was set 2005 onwards when introduced. Studies eligible if quantitative, written English, included a measure behaviours use. narrative synthesis used separated results by outcomes. Results: 17 studies final with heterogeneous results. Cross-sectional revealed reasonably consistent evidence an association use, specifically global eating, dietary restraint, excessive exercise, muscle-orientated behaviour. this not consistently replicated as experimental research. Conclusion: reveal that while correlate it currently conclude or direction relationship. Future research needed determine nature mechanisms. Given this, caution should be exercised those promoting these devices using them

Structured (sports club, SC) and unstructured (leisure-time exercise, LTE) physical activities (PAs) are key for the enhancement of health in adolescents, motivation being a potential factor adolescents' active habits. The aim this study was to analyse motivational characteristics different PA profiles based on engagement SC-PA LTE-PA. Cluster analyses sample 1332 participants (14.27 ± 2.18 years old) highlighted low-PA (SC + LTE >10 hours/week) high-PA (n = 536, mean 5.41 hours/week SC 5.42 overall those who identified themselves as female. male-gender sub-sample clustered six profiles. Motivational were similar across profiles, with high autonomous low controlled regardless total weekly PA. SC-based strongest contributor should be promoted increase adherence exercise.

Background Exercise for weight loss and maladaptive exercise (exercise that results in negative consequences or interference with daily life) are common behaviors among youth associated increased risk of disordered eating symptoms. The current study clarifies processes influence exercise‐related adolescence young adulthood, including the frequency which people transition between engaging experiencing this behavior. Method Participants from Avon Longitudinal Study Parents Children (ALSPAC) reported on disorder cognitions at age 14, behavior ages 16, 18, 24 years old. Analyses examined rates categories ‘No Weight Loss’, ‘Exercise ‘Maladaptive Exercise’ over time, identified overall trends endorsement exercise, clarified predictors these behaviors. Results Endorsement time both males females. Those Loss’ category were more likely than those Loss Category’ to time. Body mass index (Age 13) fear gain 14) consistent across sex. Conclusions support re‐framing motivations away a population level targeting reductions high‐risk individuals.

Exercise addiction (EA) is a dysfunctional behavior characterized by exaggerated training which has adverse effects on physiology and psychology. To examine the reliability validity of Chinese version Dependence Scale-Revised (EDS-R) social psychological aspects related to EA, large sample behavioral study was conducted.College students were selected as target group. All them asked finish scales about exercise, including EDS-R Motives for Physical Activity Measure-Revised scales. A confirmatory factor analysis, Mann-Whitney U test, hierarchical regression test performed find explanatory variables EA.A total 837 (556 female) with mean age 20.38 years recruited in present study. The showed good (McDonald's ω = 0.973, CR 0.99, AVE 0.80) college students. EA positively correlated exercise frequency ability motivation across sample. Besides, revealed that difference primary cause gender gap EA.The relatively robust accurate instrument assess risk EA. Additionally, may be potential factors screening great significance early detection prevention
