Abstract The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has led to the development of various vaccines. Reports have emerged suggesting a possible association between SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and onset thyroid diseases. This review explores clinical aspects disorders following vaccination, including case report patient with concomitant subacute thyroiditis (SAT) Graves’ (GD) blocking thyrotropin receptor autoantibodies (TSH-R-Ab) vaccination. SAT, characterized transient inflammation gland, been reported after GD, an autoimmune hyperthyroidism, also observed post-vaccination, often stimulating TSH-R-Ab. orbitopathy (GO) associated in patients history immune disease. unique underscores very rare condition functional hypothyroidism relation usefulness analysis TSH-R-Ab that can provide valuable insights into pathogenesis help guide treatment. highlights need for continued monitoring awareness potential thyroid-related complications

Purpose: To review existing literature concerning the effectiveness and safety of tocilizumab (TCZ) for managing thyroid eye disease. Methods: A systematic search was conducted across PubMed Embase databases to identify studies on TCZ therapy, from inception May 2023. The included keywords “Graves orbitopathy,” “thyroid ophthalmopathy,” disease,” “thyroid-associated “endocrine “Tocilizumab.” Only articles written in English, Spanish, or French were considered. Results: Among 1,013 initially screened, a total 29 fulfilled eligibility criteria selected. Most case reports series, only one randomized clinical trial found. has been used mainly glucocorticoid-resistant relapsing cases, with dosage ranging 4 8 mg/kg every weeks when intravenous weekly subcutaneous dose 162 mg. Treatment duration is usually adjusted response. mostly effective reducing inflammatory signs during active phase disease, an improvement at least 3 points activity score overall rate 8.2%. Numerous have shown marked reductions proptosis; although available controlled reported nonstatistically significant 6 months after treatment, recent meta-analysis indicated that seems be most treatment proptosis. No severe side effects related administration reported. Discussion: Despite these promising findings, trials directly compare efficacy other currently therapeutic options are needed.

Autoimmunity associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been well-described as the mechanism of development thyroid dysfunction following Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) infection and SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. However, occurrence eye disease (TED) after vaccination is scarcely described. The postulated mechanisms include immune reactivation, molecular mimicry autoimmune/inflammatory induced by adjuvants (ASIA). We report a case new-onset TED receiving vaccine.

Over the past 3 years, coronavirus disease 2019 with its worldwide spread has profoundly marked public health, therefore anti-COVID-19 vaccinations have been developed to prevent dissemination of disease. To date, 71 cases Graves' (GD) after vaccination against SARS-Cov-2 were described in adult population. Our goal is present first case paediatric population. We a 16-year-old adolescent girl who GD 6-7 weeks second dose mRNA vaccine. Therapy methimazole and propranolol was started, achieving normal thyroid function negativity autoantibodies at time therapy discontinuation 8 months. This shows that development COVID-19 can occur also Nevertheless, small number so far, many millions vaccinations, makes it impossible determine whether this simple coincidence or cause. Further epidemiological data on incidence period compared previous will be able clearly define question.

COVID-19, a contagious disease caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, emerged in 2019 and quickly became pandemic, infecting more than 700 million people worldwide. The incidence, morbidity mortality rates have started to decline since development of effective vaccines against virus widespread immunization population. SARS-CoV-2 are associated with minor local or systemic adverse reactions, while serious effects rare. Thyroid-related disorders been reported after vaccination for Graves’ (GD) is second most common amongst them. Thyroid eye (TED), an extrathyroidal manifestation GD, rarely observed post-COVID-19 vaccination. All TED cases followed mRNA-based vaccinations, but two new onset mild post-viral vector vaccine (ChAdox1nCoV-19) also reported. We report case 63-year-old woman who presented hyperthyroidism moderate-to-severe active 10 days she received first dose viral SARS-CoV-2. This such vaccine. Our patient was initially treated intravenous glucocorticoids, subsequently rituximab, due no response. rendered inactive constant diplopia persisted, referred rehabilitative surgery.
