Abstract
The
coronavirus
disease
2019
(COVID-19)
pandemic
caused
by
severe
acute
respiratory
syndrome
2
(SARS-CoV-2)
has
led
to
the
development
of
various
vaccines.
Reports
have
emerged
suggesting
a
possible
association
between
SARS-CoV-2
vaccination
and
onset
thyroid
diseases.
This
review
explores
clinical
aspects
disorders
following
vaccination,
including
case
report
patient
with
concomitant
subacute
thyroiditis
(SAT)
Graves’
(GD)
blocking
thyrotropin
receptor
autoantibodies
(TSH-R-Ab)
vaccination.
SAT,
characterized
transient
inflammation

Purpose:
To
review
existing
literature
concerning
the
effectiveness
and
safety
of
tocilizumab
(TCZ)
for
managing
thyroid
eye
disease.
Methods:
A
systematic
search
was
conducted
across
PubMed
Embase
databases
to
identify
studies
on
TCZ
therapy,
from
inception
May
2023.
The
included
keywords
“Graves
orbitopathy,”
“thyroid
ophthalmopathy,”
disease,”
“thyroid-associated
“endocrine
“Tocilizumab.”
Only
articles
written
in
English,
Spanish,
or
French
were
considered.
Results:
Among
1,013
initially
screened,
a
total
29
fulfilled
eligibility
criteria
selected.
Most
case
reports
series,
only
one
randomized
clinical
trial
found.
has
been
used
mainly
glucocorticoid-resistant
relapsing
cases,
with
dosage
ranging
4
8
mg/kg
every
weeks
when
intravenous
weekly
subcutaneous
dose
162
mg.
Treatment
duration
is
usually
adjusted
response.

signs
during
active
phase
disease,

Autoimmunity

COVID-19,

vaccines
against

SARS-CoV-2

systemic
adverse
reactions,

serious
effects
rare.
Thyroid-related
disorders
been
reported
after
vaccination
for
Graves’
(GD)
is
second
most
common
amongst
them.
Thyroid
eye
(TED),
an
extrathyroidal
manifestation
GD,
rarely
observed
post-COVID-19
vaccination.
All
TED
cases
followed
mRNA-based
vaccinations,
but
two
new
onset
mild
post-viral
vector
vaccine
(ChAdox1nCoV-19)
