Global warming causes heat and drought stress in plants, which affects crop production. In addition to osmotic protein inactivation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) overaccumulation under is a secondary that further impairs plant performance. Chloroplasts, mitochondria, peroxisomes, apoplasts are the main ROS generation sites heat- drought-stressed plants. this review, we summarize scavenging plants highlight potential applications of nanobiotechnology for enhancing tolerance these stresses.

Oxidative stress is an important component of heat- and drought-induced damage in plants. However, information on the relationship between resistance cultivated plants with different genotypes to environmental factors their ability maintain a pro-/antioxidant balance remains contradictory. This study aimed compare growth responses adaptation antioxidant system wheat cultivars oxidative agents hydrogen peroxide iron(II) sulfate. Etiolated seedlings common winter (Triticum aestivum L.) Antonivka Tobak (heat- drought-tolerant), Avgustina Doskonala (not resistant heat drought) were used for study. Three-day-old etiolated exposed 50 mM H2O2 or 5 FeSO4 one day. It was found that treated able relatively intensive growth, accumulated significantly lower amounts endogenous lipid peroxidation products, increased anthocyanin content had higher activity SOD catalase as compared non-resistant cultivars. The stress-protective effects of plant neurotransmitters, including gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) have been intensively examined in recent years. However, studies on the GABA influence stress protective systems bread wheat cultivars with different drought adaptation strategies are still lacking. aim this work was to estimate effect state antioxidant and osmoprotective etiolated seedlings two differing significantly tolerance, namely Doskonala (non-drought-resistant) Tobak (drought-resistant) under model induced by PEG 6000. Two-day-old were transferred 15% 6000 incubated for days absence or presence GABA. Treatment 0.1 0.5 mM reduced growth-inhibitory roots shoots both cultivars, but a greater extent those non-resistant Doskonala. It shown that treatment drought-induced accumulation H2O2 MDA, stabilized SOD GPX activity, level sugars, anthocyanins flavonoids cultivars. Meanwhile enhanced stress-induced increase proline content cultivar, decreased it Tobak, completely prevented decrease only partially cultivar.
