ABSTRACT The study aimed to evaluate sediment generation, transport, and deposition into the Thwake reservoir. This research sought assess transport patterns their potential impact on reservoir using regional numerical techniques. River basin constitutes 30% of dam's catchment area experiences high soil-loss due its semi-arid climate, steep slopes, lack vegetation. river system in sub-basin is ephemeral, with riverbed remaining dry throughout most year experiencing tidal flow only during storm events. Bed-material samples were collected from selected reaches, properties evaluated. involved analyzing datasets reservoir, catchment, sand-bed channel. Numerical models assessed hydrological information by considering interacting variables predicting sediment-yield estimates. findings indicated that sufficient bed material 3E would be deposited resulting delta formation approximately 5 km downstream tail waters at minimum dam operating level. mass cumulative inflow was estimated as between 14 26.3 metric tons per annum, representing loss useful life under 50 years.
