Recognition of the importance youth engagement in mental health and/or addiction (MHA) service design and delivery is increasing. Youth Advisory Councils embedded MHA organizations represent one strategy that allows to be involved at individual, organization systemic levels. This level involvement can facilitate positive outcomes for both organization. As these councils become more common, it important are prepared partner with participating youth. study uses a descriptive qualitative approach understand motivations expectations lived experience concerns who were beginning work on Council an setting Greater Toronto Area.Semistructured interviews conducted each youth, ages 16-26, advisory council (N = 8) their motivations, goals coming into work. Interviews transcribed verbatim analysed using reflexive thematic analysis.Analysis resulted five overarching themes: providing opportunities learning growth, platforming empowering embracing leadership promoting youth-driven change. The findings illustrate came motivated create change system, take roles had high organizational support. Our analyses provide insight planning implementing sector goal best supporting driving across system.Youth want provided authentic make difference. must embrace move towards listening acting recommendations enhance implementation improve access better meet needs utilizing services.This incorporated users, including 16-26 served Family Navigation Project, Sunnybrook. members contributed two relevant research activities: (1) reviewed draft interview guide before data collection, feedback was prioritized final version (2) knowledge translation through contributing academic conference presentations.

Background Adolescents have experienced increases in anxiety, depression, and stress during the COVID-19 pandemic may be at particular risk for suffering from long-term mental health consequences because of their unique developmental stage. This study aimed to determine if initial depression anxiety a small sample healthy adolescents after onset were sustained follow-up later stage pandemic. Methods Fifteen completed self-report measures three timepoints (pre-pandemic [T1], early [T2], [T3]). The effect on was examined using linear mixed-effect analyses. An exploratory analysis conducted investigate relationship between difficulties emotion regulation T2 T3. Abstract Rationale Coronavirus (COVID‐19)‐related stressors precipitated the mental health crisis and increased substance use in Canada worldwide. As pandemic continues to evolve, monitoring updating use‐related ED visit trends is essential ensure stability quality of services under prolonged timeline. Aims Objectives This study examined characterization visits during among adolescents young adults (aged 13–25 years) Ontario, Canada. Methods Descriptive statistics binary logistic regression analyses were conducted using population‐based, repeated cross‐sectional data. The volume, patient characteristics (age sex) hospital/ED features (triage end time, timing visit, triage level referral source) compared before (2019) COVID‐19 (2020 2021) by each type (alcohol, opioid, cannabis, sedatives, cocaine, stimulants multiple psychoactive substances). Results Substance decreased 1.5 times prepandemic level. However, opioid‐related continued show an increasing trend did not recover 2021. Moreover, a significant increase emergent/life‐threatening levels (Canadian Triage Acuity Scales 1 2) substance‐related alarming (2019 = 36.8%, 2020 38.7% 2021 38.4%). We also found general decrease weekend visits, overnight on statutory holidays, patients tended stay longer (over 6 h) pandemic. Conclusion Our findings indicate unmet treatment needs due limited accessibility heightened threshold for Providing access treatment/programs outside critical reducing complications presenting ED.
