ABSTRACT Changes in land use and cover (LULC) are among the most prominent anthropogenic activities influencing groundwater recharge (GWR), as they directly affect rate at which aquifers refill. Thus, evaluating impacts of these changes on GWR becomes essential to ensure sustainability. However, research this aspect Gidabo watershed is limited. This study aims evaluate LULC from 2013 2022. maps were generated with ArcGIS 10.8, was predicted WetSpass‐M model. The main findings reveal considerable between Farmland increased by 39.25%, settlement areas grew 11.4%, forest decreased 16.17%. Additionally, shrubland grassland showed a 41.14% reduction. These reduced 179.12 158.48 mm. Over same time, annual runoff evapotranspiration (ET) increased. highlights how changes, such increasing agricultural cover, have considerably GWR. highlight urgent need for integrated water resource management policies that consider human activities. To long‐term sustainability resources similar regions, conservation strategies promote adaptive practices must be implemented. Water policy should encourage sustainable practices, reinforce regulatory frameworks, support community‐based improve maintain management.
