The difference in the governing equation between inviscid and viscous flows is introduction of terms. Traditional Navier–Stokes (NS) equations define stress based on Stokes’s assumptions. In NS equations, supposedly proportional to strain, both strain tensors are symmetric. There several questions with which include following: 1. Both symmetric shear terms stretching coordinate-dependent thus not Galilean invariant. 2. physical meaning diagonal off-diagonal elements clear, coordinate-dependent. 3. It hard measure quantitatively, viscosity really measured by vorticity, strain. 4. no vorticity tensor plays an important role fluid flow, especially for turbulent flow. newly proposed dynamics use only, anti-symmetric. advantages anti-symmetric, invariants independent coordinate rotation. anti-symmetric stress. Viscosity coefficients obtained experiments, vorticity. term can be further decomposed into rigid rotation shear, turbulence research. 5. computation cost reduced half as all zero six three. Several computational examples tested, clearly demonstrate new have exactly same results. As shown below, identical mathematics, but one has lower mentioned above, including possibility study flow better. recommended instead equations. unique definition operation vectors matrix also discussed this paper.

In order to reveal the effect of baffles on flow structure and cyclic variation stirred by Rushton turbines, particle image velocimetry experiments were performed in baffled unbaffled tanks. a tank, peak value time-averaged velocity obviously increases, high region enlarges significantly, fluctuation fluid elements near turbine increases significantly. 20° phase plane swirl strength slightly enlarges, but phase-resolved is lower. The regions turbulent kinetic energy are larger tank at various planes. Using quadruple proper orthogonal decomposition, field decomposed into small-scale part, transition large-scale mean part with different spatial scales. Adding baffle, largest scale (it favorable for mass transfer liquid levels) which mainly includes random cascade, enhances conducive diffusion). main influence blade passages large-scale, standard deviation time coefficients decreases 3%–4% adding baffle.

To investigate the mechanism of vortex motion, a pitched synthetic jet is arranged on bottom cross flow and simulated by incompressible Naiver–Stokes equations with large eddy simulation. The Liutex vector identification method utilized to quantitatively study rotation strength core size structures according various driving frequencies (St = 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0) amplitudes (A0 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5) during 21 periods. results show that both frequency amplitude play significant role in generation jet. However, makes positive contribution size, while negative contribution. motion can be summarized as follows: low small favor primary clockwise vortex, high motivate anticlockwise generation.
