Abstract Background The pandemic of COVID-19 virus had led to another avascular necrosis. Aim To evaluate the altered clinical and radiological presentation COVID-19-related AVN hip. Methods This study included 42 patients with head femur who were presented outpatient clinic Kafr El Sheikh University Hospital. Patients classified into three main groups. first group COVID infection received steroid therapy for their pulmonary manifestations. second without receiving therapy. final hip after vaccination taking any Results related infection. more susceptible development at (a) lower threshold dose (900 g) (b) earlier onset (less than a month). Conclusions conclude, there is silent epidemic cases presenting daily in our clinics AVN.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has presented numerous challenges to global healthcare system and emerging evidence suggests a potential link between treatment, specifically steroid therapy, the development of avascular necrosis (AVN) hip. This review aims provide comprehensive overview recent studies case reports investigating relationship COVID-19, corticosteroid AVN. Understanding nuances AVN in context is crucial for professionals navigate treatment decisions mitigate complications. Materials Methods: Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) was used systematic until September 1st, 2023. full-texts remaining twenty-three (n=23) articles were independently reviewed by authors this review. Conclusions: association therapy hip noteworthy concern even though, no evident duration cumulative dosage medication, maximum daily received, presence Further research with larger cohorts long-term follow-up needed better understand causative optimal management strategies

Non-traumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONHF) is characterized by cell death osteocytes and alterations in osteoblasts osteoclasts, often caused prolonged use corticosteroids. Other risk factors include autoimmune diseases, alcohol, radiotherapy infections. This report describes case a 55-year-old man who developed ONHF after treatment with corticosteroids for COVID-19. can be insidious, manifesting pain limited movement, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) being most effective diagnostic method. Treatment varies from conservative to surgical, depending on stage disease. Early diagnosis multidisciplinary follow-up are essential better prognosis. Future research should focus developing COVID-19 guidelines that reduce incidence ONCF, exploring safe therapeutic alternatives.

Abstract Background: COVID-19 is relatively a new condition, the long-term effects of which have not been thoroughly studied yet. Musculoskeletal complications following infection or because its medications used had reported in literature. Here, we report on seven hips four patients who presented with osteonecrosis femoral head (ONFH) after having and their treatment regimen included glucocorticoid. Cases presentation: Four to us complaining hip pain (bilateral three unilateral one), all being diagnosed as infection, line management corticosteroids intake for various durations. The diagnosis was confirmed by plain radiographs magnetic resonance imaging. disease early stages without collapse. Thus, were treated core decompression. Conclusion: ONFH real concern especially when administered part management. A follow-up screening strategy should be established detect development osteonecrosis.
