Europe leads in shaping circular bioeconomy (CBE) policies for sustainability, relying on dynamic research and innovation (R&I) projects to propel the transition. Increased European R&I investment, fueled by commitment a societal demand measurable project returns, lacks comprehensive evaluation. This study provides an in-depth analysis of alignment European-funded with CBE policy priorities assesses their impact. Rooted interpretive paradigm, it employs content through semi-structured questionnaires survey leaders. The evaluates benefits using triple bottom line concept interprets results guided theory change. Our suggest that actively cultivate supportive ecosystem adoption, as evidenced emerging themes such knowledge sharing, capacity building, collaborative learning, aligning closely investment funding schemes. impact focuses short medium term, emphasizing social dimension committing empowering individuals, fostering collaboration, enriching knowledge. Long-term primarily contribute economic dimension, highlighting potential positive impacts like promoting business growth, innovation, improving market efficiency, sustainability. seeks enhance promote paradigm shift towards sustainability providing context-specific recommendations.

In a context where innovation and environmental protection are increasingly essential, new perspective has emerged, lighting the way to sustainable future. This is circular economy in forest bioeconomy, focusing on exploitation of non-wood biomaterials. article uses Reporting Standards for Systematic Evidence Syntheses systematic review method provide information needed ensure non-woody biomaterials economy. A total 1062 studies were collected from several scientific databases, only 107 met inclusion criteria. Most publications came Europe, America Asia, mostly published between 2018 2023. Studies focused economy, economics explores strategies use highlights economic models incorporating waste recovery, eco-design products functionality. Responsible management policies, including standards, planning incentives, essential ethical forestry. Collaborative partnerships, such as collaborative platforms multi-stakeholder initiatives, emerging levers optimal resource utilization. Despite logistical, regulatory challenges, these offer growth opportunities through innovation, awareness markets. Currently, one-third of global food production, accounting for 1.3 billions tons, goes wasted due to major humanitarian and environmental challenges. In such a scenario, the circular bioeconomy model stands as an innovative solution by promoting sustainable utilizing agri-food waste, converting non-renewable products into valuable resources. Here, concept was applied on previously obtained chestnut burr extract (agri-food waste) composed gallic acid, quinic protocatechuic brevifolin carboxylic ellagic acid evaluate its antimicrobial activity against four bacterial opportunistic pathogens (Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli). Our results evidenced modest but measurable antibacterial Enterococcus with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) 64 μg/mL. silico studies allowed identifying potential molecular target, supporting underlying active principle providing useful findings regarding their interaction. this study, we show robust comprehensive in vitro pipeline aimed at identification novel scaffolds taking advantage waste.
