Microplastics (MPs), defined as plastic particles smaller than 5 mm, have emerged a global environmental and public health crisis, infiltrating air, water, soil, food systems worldwide. MPs originate from the breakdown of larger debris, single-use plastics, industrial processes, entering food. Emerging evidence underscores ability to cross biological barriers, including blood–brain barrier, triggering neuroinflammatory responses contributing neurodegenerative diseases such Alzheimer’s Parkinson’s. Polystyrene (PS), common type MP, activates microglial cells, releasing pro-inflammatory cytokines like tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) interleukins, which increase neuronal damage. also been linked cardiovascular diseases, with studies detecting polyethylene (PE) polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in carotid artery plaques, increasing risk myocardial infarction stroke. Furthermore, disrupt endocrine function, alter lipid metabolism, induce gut microbiome imbalances, posing multifaceted risks. In MENA region, MP pollution is particularly severe, Mediterranean Sea receiving an estimated 570,000 tons annually, equivalent 33,800 bottles per minute. Studies Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia document high concentrations marine ecosystems, herbivorous fish Siganus rivulatus containing over 1000 individual due ingestion contaminated seaweed. Despite these findings, awareness regulatory frameworks remain inadequate, only 24% Egyptians demonstrating sufficient knowledge safe use. With the simultaneous growth of plastic demand and need for a circular economy, processes recycling discarded worn-out consumer goods are also becoming increasingly important. In this context, reactive processing recycled poly(ethylene terephthalate) (rPET) with pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) offers frequently studied modification approach to optimize viscous elastic material properties degraded PET through mechanical recycling. In the 1930s, plastic items started to acquire popularity. Since then, they have overcome many barriers and are now important facets of society. Post-consumer plastic, however, is an environmental problem increasing concern. Marine freshwater environments being impaired by pollution, which mostly result improper post-use disposal. Herein I review recent literature on effects marine environments, based a Scopus search. Authors' keywords were analyzed mapped. Purpose Based on the knowledge-attitude-behavior model, this study is aimed at investigating influential mechanism underlying purchase of green clothing by dividing category into home-in wear and home-out within context consumption. The mediating effects perceived greenwashing (PG), value (PV) expected moral benefit (EMB) moderating effect type (GCT) were examined. Design/methodology/approach data for collected from 366 valid samples through a between-subject design survey administered in China. Moderation analysis mediation using SPSS/PROCESS macro applied to test proposed hypotheses.
