In recent years, a significant increase in the market availability of products with phytostimulant effect on plants has occurred. However, these are not always low-cost, and their effects crops reproducible. this study, an alternative use lavender, already known for its antimicrobial activity, is proposed: aqueous extract from self-produced lavender (Lavandula angustifolia Mill., var. Hidcote) flowering tops was tested activity lettuce (Lactuca sativa L., Bionda d’estate) cultivated under organic farming management. Lettuce were planted open field private farm (in Lazio region, Italy): treated weekly two months extracts while control sprayed water. Results showed that treatment enhanced fresh edible production dry biomass (12.08% 15.09%, respectively) plants, as well leaf area index (28.01%) photosynthetic efficiency (increased SPAD). At same time, mineral content observed: compared to control, 30.46% observed N, 31.10%, 35.52%, 36.19%, 47.51%, 48.11%, 91.44% K, Ca, Mg, P, Mn, Fe, respectively. All factors contribute enhancing commercial nutritional quality lettuce, strengthening self-defense extending shelf life. study exhibits could be useful product obtaining higher yield better farming.
