Overextraction of groundwater, as well rapidly changing land use patterns, climatic change, and anthropogenic activities, in the densely populated Melur Tamil Nadu state India, has led to aquifer degradation. This study maps groundwater potential (GWPZ) by evaluating 678 km2 this region Analytical Hierarchy Processes (AHP) using remote sensing GIS tools part SDG 6 for sustainable management drinking, irrigation, industrial uses future generations. Data information layers, such (a), topography (t), lineaments (l), land-use/land-cover (LuLc), soil (s), rainfall (r), drainage (d) characteristics, separated area between poor excellent zones with 361 or 53% remaining low GWP prospective zone covering only 9 (1.3% total area). The integrated approach GWPZ Water Quality Index (WQI) can effectively identify different based on their suitability extraction consumption better understanding. also evaluates performance three machine learning models, Random Forest (RF), Gradient Boosting, Support Vector Machine (SVM), a classification method same layers that govern potential. results indicate both RF model Boosting achieved 100% accuracy, while SVM had lower accuracy 50%. Performance metrics precision, recall, F1-score were analyzed assess effectiveness. findings highlight importance selection, dataset size, feature achieving optimal performance. Results system reserve, it requires adequate water resource strategies artificial recharge, pumping restriction, implementation tariffs sustainability.
