Abstract This research investigates the impact of competency-based hiring on organizational success, with a focus utilizing analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for candidate selection. The study explores most sought-after competencies by recruiters and their importance in process. Employing case methodology, paper evaluates four applicants an inside sales specialist (ISS) role at educational technology (EdTech) firm. Data were primarily gathered through company recruitment initiatives supplemented information from secondary sources. AHP evaluation considered primary factors: ‘salary expectations’ (SE), ‘knowledge’ (K), ‘experience’ (E) ‘education’ (Ed). Findings revealed that while ‘K’ ‘E’ are vital, organizations often favor candidates lower ‘SE’ skills over those extensive experience demanding higher salaries. demonstrates AHP’s efficacy facilitating complex decisions systematically evaluating multiple competencies.
