ABSTRACT
This
study
utilised
2015
PISA
data
from
the
United
Kingdom
and
Hong
Kong
to
examine
relations
between

performance
through
a
mediation
model.
The
results
uncovered
three
key
findings:
Firstly,
exhibited
negative
total
effects
on
in
Kingdom,
whereas
were
non‐significant
Kong.
Secondly,
consistently
showed
positive
indirect
of
self‐efficacy,
enjoyment
interest.
However,
no
observed

either
sampled
countries/regions.
Notably,
epistemological
beliefs
but
not
Kingdom.
Thirdly,
displayed
unexplained
(i.e.,
direct)
performance,
suggesting
that
potentially
mediators
have
been
fully
identified.
Future
