ABSTRACT This study utilised 2015 PISA data from the United Kingdom and Hong Kong to examine relations between outside school ICT use for learning science performance through a mediation model. The results uncovered three key findings: Firstly, exhibited negative total effects on in Kingdom, whereas were non‐significant Kong. Secondly, consistently showed positive indirect of self‐efficacy, enjoyment interest. However, no observed utility value either sampled countries/regions. Notably, epistemological beliefs but not Kingdom. Thirdly, displayed unexplained (i.e., direct) performance, suggesting that potentially mediators have been fully identified. Future research shall focus exploring potential mediations may cause develop more targeted interventions.

Electromagnetic radiation (EMR) is integral to both the natural world and technological innovation, yet widespread misconceptions about its nature effects persist among public, educators, students. This comprehensive review examines these misconceptions, analyzing their origins–including inadequate education, complexity of EMR concepts, media misrepresentation, educators’ own misunderstandings–and impact on scientific literacy public health. By reviewing a wide range studies, we identify common misunderstandings, such as conflating ionizing non-ionizing radiation, believing all harmful, confusing irradiation with contamination. These contribute unwarranted health anxieties, resistance beneficial technologies, challenges in science education. We highlight critical need for effective education through curriculum integration, innovative teaching methods, enhanced teacher training. addressing strategic educational reforms evidence-based communication, aim foster scientifically literate society capable making informed decisions applications.
